I thought that maybe by thinking over the movie now, I'd be able to piece it together, but the opposite is happening. Okay, they went to Nepal because that's where the signal controlling the ships came from. But once they got there, all that was there was a long abandoned mine. I guess the people there who stole the vials worked for Totemkopf, but who knows what was in it for them. Then -- somehow -- they found Dr. Totemkopf's island lair. I remember that it had something to do with a star chart and a stick, but it was even more confusing than how they found that city in the 4th Indiana Jones movie.
And Angelina Jolie's flying base doesn't seem related to anything. She's on the cover, but her role is basically an extended cameo.
Now I'm wondering, might it have been easier to just build a generator than to build giant robots to steal a generator? And what was in the vials? Saying "Adam and Eve" doesn't explain anything.
According to Wikipedia, this movie takes place in an alternate timeline, around 1939. I was very confused about that. They reference World War I a lot. Would they even call it World War I before World War II? I also thought there was a line that said that 30 years had passed since something, which would have made me guess the movie was set in the mid-to-late 1940's.
I also thought that the idea was that we were supposed to pretend the movie was made in 1920 or 1930 or so, but it was set a few decades in the future from then.
We also watched the original 6 minute demo. That looked more like an old '40's black and white film. The actual movie looks like a '00 digital movie like 300.
