I guess the problem was with the Drool episode. If Ray had said there wasn't any way to let Drool out without letting the other goblin back out that
probably would have worked just as well.

I liked the Drool episode, but it wasn't really consistent with canon, and that's how it got its sad ending. Maybe it would have been slightly better
if the ending was ambiguous, with the ghostbusters not knowing if they could get Drool out.
But the show was written by so many writers, maintaining continuity would be tough. "Of the three ways in which men think that they acquire a knowledge of things--authority, reasoning, and experience--only the last is effective and able to bring peace to the intellect." -Roger Bacon |

Bob-omb Battlefield is a decent first level, but not great. I know they wanted a simple area for people to get used to 3D Mario, but it's just a little too
plain, and I don't like that music at all.
Whomp's Fortress is my favorite of the early levels. I just like everything about it, the stars and coins are so much fun to collect and the visuals are great. Jolly Roger Bay is also really good. I wasn't a big fan of it in the past, but I've come to appreciate it a lot more. It's very peaceful and beautiful. I've done everything I can do in those levels for right now, and I'm starting on Cool, Cool, Mountain. Lots of negative feelings when I think about this stage. The music annoys me, having to go back to the castle every time you mess up in the penguin race annoys me, and falling to your death because of the camera does, as well. |

I like Cool Cool Mountain, except for that darn penguin race.
Super Mario 64's music has never bothered me. I guess I must have a high tolerance for that goofy, light-hearted sort of music. The secret slide music is borderline though.

Did a little more in Bionic Commando 2009.
I started giggling when I got to a sniper, knocked him to the edge of the tall building, and Spencer booted him in the ass to his death. However, it's kind of irritating when Spencer keeps making "witty" one-liners after enemy deaths. He doesn't do it after every death, but it still happens way too often. This game is like playing for the bad guys, and not just because I know the dumbass plot twist that comes up. Spencer seems a little too excited at throwing people out of windows, and on multiple occasions I'd snuck up on some guys who were just shooting the bull, then ambushed them and tore their limbs off. By the way, two of this game's achievements are "I got Hard" and "I went Commando." Uh, did somebody know what those phrases mean? |

Maybe they were taking a page out of the Ratchet and Clank series, where all the subtitles are doulble entendres?

If you dislike the inconsistencies now, wait until you get to Season 4 where getting hit with proton beams doesn't kill you, it just reverse-ages you. Or
sticking your face in an open ghost trap makes you travel back in time.

I liked the Penguin Race in SM64. It was probably the first moment in the game that kind of grabbed me. You finally get to play something linear and
fast-paced.
On the other hand, I did not think Bob-Omb Battlefield was that great of a first level. Actually, simple though it may be, I still think it's too sprawling and unfocused and makes getting into the game at first to be too difficult. I think a lot of people who first played SM64 loved that feeling of being cast adrift in a big, free world -- they became intoxicated with the potential -- but I would have liked being guided into it a bit more. I don't like the Slider theme much either, and I think most of the rest of the soundtrack is okay at best, although I do really, really like Dire Dire
Docks and Koopa's Road.
The thing about Bob-omb Battlefield is that I don't personally mind it. I wouldn't say it's a great level, but I don't dislike it, either, but it probably wasn't necessary to make it such an open-ended training ground when you consider that they already had Peach's Castle for that. |

I admit I never thought about the levels in Super Mario 64 much; Whomp's Fortress did always seem like the black sheep of the four beginning levels, since
the rest are relatively sprawling and it's just a mostly self-contained vertical climb. Though having said that, I just noticed how relatively small Jolly
Roger Bay was when I was hunting for 100 coins there. It's like, the four platforms above land, an underwater area with not much in it (ignoring the
fuckin' eel), and a small cavern.
I've got 90 stars so far. I would've had 91 but Dire, Dire Docks has that friggin' hole that sucks you out and into the castle pond, and there's coins you need to collect right in front of it. Argh. |

Yeah, it's weird how big those levels seemed at the time. Then you play Donkey Kong 64...

I just got all the stars in Cool, Cool, Mountain. I think it's the first time I ever 100%'d it. The level did start to grow on me after a while. The
hardest part was finding the last red coin. I don't even remember exactly where it was, just that I shot myself out of a cannon to get to it, and there was
a block of ice near it.

Got back to Banjo-Kazooie, I cleared out the beach except for the honeycombs, Clanker's Cavern including the honeycombs, and Bubblegoop Swamp with one
honeycomb. My head hurts.
Something I just realized is Clanker is an SAB with Daggett from Angry Beavers. Did somebody already send that in? |

I'm starting to enjoy Mario 64 more as I get farther into it. The annoyances seemed a lot worse back in the day than they do, now. And for some reason, I
no longer get a headache from playing. It is the Wii version, so I guess something could be different with the framerate, but probably not.
I have over 30 stars, but I forget the exact number. I know I did get a message from the game that made no sense because I guess it thought I would be farther into the castle by now. It was talking about pounding the pillars and what to do if you lose your hat in the desert, and I hadn't even been to the basement at the time. I got the Vanish Cap. I have a couple of stars left to find in Jolly Roger Bay and Big Boo's Haunt, and I've started working on Hazy Maze Cave a little. |

Man, season two is pissing me off. I think the best laughs it's gotten out of me were chuckles. For one thing, the Ghostbusters just don't talk like
normal people, they talk like they're reading a script.
I know FO said "Very Beast Friends" was the gayest episode in the series, but there's been several other moments that made me raise an eyebrow. One was way back in a season one episode, I think the one where we're introduced to Peter's dad because that was the episode where Peter was going around with a shirt at the beginning. This didn't bother me, but something at the end of the episode left me going "wut". Ray says something that angers Peter, Peter stands up, then it cuts to outside the firehouse with Ray yelling something like "Peter, put that down!" and then he starts laughing hysterically. And then there were two things in the episode I just watched, the one where Slimer kept turning into a monster. At at the beginning of the episode the Ghostbusters come back from a job at a dynamite factory, and then Peter takes the fire extinguisher and starts spraying his ass with it for no reason (come on, if there was a fire there he would have set the car on fire earlier). And then when they're fumbling around with the trap with evil-Slimer in it, at one point it bounces off Egon's butt while he's slumped over Ray. |

For one thing, the Ghostbusters just don't talk like normal people, they talk like they're reading a script. Most of the Season 2 laughs for me were laughing at the show instead of with it. There was on in particular (the Fairytale episode) where Janine yells something like, "Hurry, guys, there's a forest growing downtown!", and it's played completely straight. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to have to pause it while I recovered. "The Grundel" is the best Season 2 episode. It's the one where Slimer has the smallest role, the characters act the most like their Season 1 selves, and it was actually written by JMS. Oh, and trust me, "Very Beast Friends" is way worse with the gay overtones than any of that. |

Oh man @ Sticky Business.
I watched the intro and found it kind of amusing that Richard Muller said he didn't remember writing this episode. I wonder if the network suits dicked around with it so much he didn't recognize it. Why did they bring that kid with the bandage over his eyes to the viewing? I think there's something going on between Slimer and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. When the Phantom runs off with Slimer Stay-Puft yells "Come back here with my Slimer!" and at the end of the episode Slimer is licking Stay-Puft's face. It doesn't help Stay-Puft is dressed like a sailor. |

I'm over 40 stars now. I'm making slow progress in Hazy Maze Cave. It's a memorable level but not that entertaining. Got the metal cap. I also got
some stars in Lethal Lava Land... I would go there when I got annoyed with the cave.
