i think i'm going to read more somethingawful reviews 'cause they're a lot more honest than most of the interwebz... when they're not totally misleading with their sarcasm. --- dark crusade: beat up everyone(using orkys) except the eldar and won. i waited for the tau and eldar to kill each other 1st, which didn't help much, since the tau beat the eldar without losing most of their honour guards. it seems that attacking the eldar main base while it's controlled by another faction(which defeated it before i did) transforms it into a regular "destroy all HQs" mission. so capturing the gaint webways didn't weaken the occupying tau forces at all, and the ork allies got replaced with tau troops.... which means, if i had waited for someone else to beat the necron, chaos and space marine bases, i would have a much easier time beating those re-occupied maps. the necron base won't be a plant a bomb mission, but it wouldn't have 4 monoliths attacking me if i don't destroy them early. the chaos base wouldn't give me extra troops to rescue, but it wouldn't have those instant death dealing blood pulses. the space marines' base wouldn't have an orbital relay building, which would also mean i couldn't capture it and use it. i know now, the eldar base wouldn't be any easier. i'm guessing the tau base won't be easier too, because an assassination mission is a lot less fuss than a destroy all HQs vanilla mission. the ork and imperial bases should be harder without rebel units assisting me. |

Mario RPG... I went through Bowser's Keep and defeated Exor. I went through two battle doors, one with quiz questions, and I forget what the other one was.
Anything where you had to do platforming was frustrating because of the perspective.

I cleared out Mumbo's Mountain, got a couple more Jiggies from Treasure Trove Cove, and have at least half the Jiggies from Clanker's Cavern.
I hate the swimming controls!

Swimming sucks in the Banjo series on N64.
Super Mario Advance 2 - I have all but two levels completed in the Yoshi Coin Challenge. Unfortunately, both are horrible levels. One is Chocolate Secret, where I manage to find 4 past the halfway point but none before. The other is Wendy O.'s Castle, and that one isn't about cunning or clever item placement - the stage just sucks. |

Well I've managed to leave Final Fantasy VIII in my PS2 tray for months on end without changing it out.
That is also why I managed forgetting to mention that I own the game earlier when I posted my game list. |

I watched the first Fantastic Four movie. It was dull at worst, mostly because it took forever to get going.

I WILL NOT PARTAKE IN YOUR VAGUE DESCRIPTION HIJINKS
Thanks to some confusing emulator shenanigans, my Link's Awakening save didn't actually save, so I'm at the beginning of the previous dungeon, and my last savestate is at the boss of it; but thanks to the emulator being even more crap, it doesn't like to load savestates half the time. Either way, I'm still going to have to wade through ghost part again. Eyeugh. I think my beef with that part is the simple fact that it's so irrelevant. The ghost isn't someone we know, he's just this guy who forces a sidequest into the main story. If he said "hey, thanks for putting me the rest, I know the way to the dungeon! Let me give you a shortcut," then that would be handy and relevant, but no, it's just a prompt for the owl to show up. I've been playing a lot of Midtown Madness 3, though. I'm at the last Checkpoint race of Washington, the seventh in Paris, and onto the third selection of undercover missions in both cities. |

Crawl and 1OOO wrote: No, "dull at worst" as in "the worst it gets is 'dull' but never reaches 'totally unwatchable'" I don't know what possessed me to do it, probably the fanboy in me, but I rented that new Bionic Commando game. At least I'll be ready for that god-awful plot twist at the end. |

So the end of Mario RPG has a lot of boss fights. Aside from possibly fighting stronger versions of the old bosses, you have the following, all taking place
after Exor the sword.
Count Down- This was one of the game's trickier battles for me. It's got three segments, and can do some devastating status effect+damage combos. Earth Link- This one starts with two bosses, then you defeat one and the other one rides a giant snake. Pretty easy. Then there are some mini-bosses: The Clerk, Manager, and Director all in separate battles. Next is Gunyolk and the Factory Chief- Another tricky one, with it's main attack doing devastating damage. Then of course, both forms of Smithy. Something felt a little off about the final area. I think I would have liked if the final battle took place in Bowser's Castle itself. The ending was kind of minimal compared to how I remembered it, though the parade sequence was nicely done (if a bit hard to see). I'm going back and forth between giving Paper Mario another shot, or trying some of the FF4 abomination/sequel. Edit- Well, I must have deleted Paper Mario a while ago, and don't feel like hooking up the Wii to download it again. For the same reason, and to save money, I'll pass on FF4-2 for now, also. I forget sometimes that I can't just buy whatever catches my attention, anymore.
