And even then the quality of a game is determined by how big it is, which means the best game ever is Metal Gear Solid 4.

Least: Mario Land as well, though I don't hate it as much as everyone else. Just to clarify, I don't really hate Super Mario Land, either, but it always felt like a game that was just "there" in my collection. It was more disappointing them something that drove me to foam at the mouth. |

A lot of that depends on circumstances. If I had scrimped and saved to have gotten a Game Boy with Super Mario Land circa '91 and blew through it in 30
minutes, I would have been foaming at the mouth. However, since I never bought a copy for myself, but merely played
my brother's version (and he seemed okay with the game), I'm not as hateful of it as I could be.
Either way, it's a bad game. "Of the three ways in which men think that they acquire a knowledge of things--authority, reasoning, and experience--only the last is effective and able to bring peace to the intellect." -Roger Bacon |

Captain Ladd Spencer wrote: You can tell how big a game is by writing a "review" of it, if the "review" lists every single feature of the game, without any actual opinions. Then, you count the number of paragraphs in the "review." If you don't start talking about actual gameplay until paragraph eleven, then you know you have a masterpiece on your hands. |

Super Mario Land was boring. I'd rather play Kirby's Dreamland. In my opinion, the GB Mario games didn't start getting good until Wario Land, which
was the third Mario Land game. The 2nd is decent, but has its flaws. Though both were good for their time, they haven't aged very well like alot of the
monochrome games from that era which were way too basic and short to be worth noting in general.

I hate seeing things as described as good for their time. Mainstream review sites use that all the time when they're tearing an older game apart for stupid
reasons. If a Gameboy game sucks now, then it sucked back when it was released, too. Games aren't like milk, they don't start going sour after a
certain length of time.

I didn't mean to offend you, but I'm not sure if I agree. What I meant was that games like Super Mario Land probably seemed better back then to people
who wanted to play something on the go when it was the best entertainment that was available at the time, even if it was only mediocre, it was still better
than nothing and didn't have any other games to really compare it too within its own field, that being on a technologically limited handheld platform. The
thing is, games like SML3: Wario Land and Link's Awakening came along and showed what could really be done with the black and white gameboy that wasn't
totally accomplished by Mario Land even though the system SML could've utilized same technological potential. I remember playing Mario Land about 7-8 years
after it was released and being disappointed by its brevity (this was when I first got a monochrome GB) but back then it may have seemed different, though I
may be wrong.

We talked about the Super Mario Land / for its time issue before. One thing is that even then, Gargoyle's Quest was a much better game.
