My parents used to send me coupons in the mail every week and a lot of times it was for stuff I don't buy.
Yeah, if it's something you really don't need or want, then it doesn't do you much good. On the other hand, this has made dinner more fun and less of a chore because I have all these interesting choices now. Before, I was buying the same things every week and I was having difficulty deciding what to make each night because I always felt like I just had that. We've had Wanchai Ferry Kung Pao Chicken, a Birdseye Steamfresh Meal for Two, Whitecastle Microwavable Burgers, Jose Ole Quesadillas... all things I probably never would have thought to try before.
Sampling of what I got coupons for this week:
Boca Burgers - I was just thinking the other day it's been ages since I've had Boca Burgers.
Romano's Macaroni & Grill Dinner Kit - Like with the Wanchai Ferry, you have to add your own chicken, but I'm now experienced with that.
Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, or Chicken Helper
Healthy Ones Packaged Lunchmeat
Ballpark Franks
Bertolli Frozen Meals
And that's just the lunch/dinner items. I also have snacks, desserts, drinks, kitty food & treats, toiletries, and other useful stuff.
The reason I had so many this week is because, aside from the store-specific coupons which I almost never use, there are usually 3 different packets you can get - a P&G brand coupon packet, another one I don't know the name of, and the Red Plum savings packet. Sometimes, you only get one or two or even none. Sometimes the Red Plum one sucks. But this time I got all three and the Red Plum packet was decent this week.
On a side note, I'm not buying the Sunday paper unless I see that it does have at least one coupon packet. I never see any job listings that aren't also listed on the paper's website, so it's not worth getting for that reason anymore.
