It might be a way for us to add more vegetables to our diet easily. For some reason, it seems like a pain in the ass to boil them on the stove. Maybe because we have to clean a pot, we have to stir them to make sure they don't stick to the bottom of the pan, there has to be just exactly the right amount of water, they cook for various times that makes syncing with cooking the main meal a pain (some cook in 7 minutes; lima beans, as I recall, cook in more like 20)
