Differences between Famicom and NES Zelda 2. Seems like they made some things harder and some things easier. Other major differences: The Japanese version had two different Helmethead bosses, one that drops one helmet, and one that drops two helmets. The American version only has the "harder" Helmethead that drops two helmets. The second Helmethead in the American version is replaced with a totally new boss, the Troll guy with the mace. Carock (the magician) and Barba (the dragon) look slightly different on the American version than they do in the Japanese. Music is different in some spots (I knew this from listening to the Japanese NSF for this game). Some bosses, like Barba and Horsehead, have a "monster" scream in the Japanese version. The Ironknuckle miniboss in front of the walkthrough wall is Horsehead on the Japanese version. Also, there's this weird enemy that looks like a old witch in the Japanese version that I don't remember in the American version. |

They should have shown what happens if Yoshi takes hit after that.

Some bosses, like Barba and Horsehead, have a "monster" scream in the Japanese version. That's kinda cool! I might have liked if they kept that! Huh, so the Japanese version has the harder Ironknuckle boss? I couldn't remember that. Although of course later in the American version you still fight ones that "throw" their swords. I wouldn't have minded if those spider enemies were vulnerable to the regular sword. It's just a waste of magic to use Fire on them, so I'd usually just run past them. |

Going back, the hidden garden in SotN looks kind of uninspired. And I really didn't like that "Vampire Killer" remix. I guess I'm happy
that that stuff was left out of my edition of the game.

They should have shown what happens if Yoshi takes hit after that. He just spins like he normally does when he gets hit with Mario off of his back. There's another video that shows what happens if you keep playing without Baby Mario, but eventually you reach a spot where the screen is supposed to scroll and it won't go any farther. |

On the Zelda 2 changes, I'm glad they took the roar out of the Barba fight, that got on my nerves after just a few seconds in the video, imagine having to
actually fight him to that.
And an embarassing secret revealed: the reason I've never been able to bring myself to play Zelda 2 is because when I was a kid, a friend of my brother's brought it over and the game over screen scared the piss out of me : ( |

This doesn't really explain anything to do with Ikari's weirdness but take a look at the Japanese flyer for it:
Maybe the whole big surpriesed was a giant dead body for no reason at the end. Some easy to do glitches in Sonic 3 & Knuckles: |

Apparently, when Nintendo ported Link to the Past over to the GBA, they allowed you to cancel the warp bird after it already picked you up. This allowed for a
number of new ways to glitch up the game:
This first one allows swimming on dry land. The second video shows how you can use the flute to get to parts of the overworld that should be off limits. |

I know that some action games have had good mine cart levels, but when they're used in RPGs, it's basically, "Put down the controller and
watch" time and after you've seen about a bazillion mine cart scenes, it's not very exciting to watch them anymore. And this video opens up with a mine cart scene, and then has a second one closer to the end.

Interesting to note, that scene did not end up in the final game of Mother 3.
I live on the internet.

Yeah, I was going to mention that but you beat me to It. I know that this is highly unlikely but maybe they realized on their own that mine cart scenes in
RPG's aren't exciting anymore.

I don't know if that looks all that "Earthbound-y" in general, anyway.

I was just thinking in terms of the style in general.

I've said before that it looks more like Animal Crossing.
It seemed like the point of the mine cart scene in the video was to show off such a scene in 3D N64 graphics (notice the crumbling stalagmites in the second sequence or the Temple of Doom/ET-ish jump in the first sequence), but since Mother 3 ultimately came out on a 2D system, my guess is that they realized it was now pointless and excised it. |
