I got out the hairball control treats for her, and it's hilarious to see her face react to them. The change in her face is so obvious; she blinks and kind of perks up. I think she must really like them. On the other hand, I gave some to Lady, and she seemed disgusted by them. This morning, I saw they were still where I left them. Mel likes Pepper, and Pepper still prefers Mel to keep a slight distance, but they often get on the downstairs lookout together and eat side-by-side. Of course, they've been together the longest. Last night Mel was lying down on a microfiber blanket on the lookout and Pepper jumped up to look out the window. Mel noticed her and started rolling around on her back. The first time Pepper saw this, it was hilarious. She had finished eating at the bowls, which are a few feet away from the box, and for a minute or so she just stood there, looking at Caramel. She had this look on her face of sheer incredulity, like, What the hell is this? After she could take it no more, she walked over to the box and tried swatting at Caramel a few times. Since then, however, she's been less possessive of her box. Caramel is on it right now, but Pepper is on some microfiber on the lookout.

She's a very, very feminine-looking cat...even though she has a bigger beard than Hermes. Pepper's ears seem to have healed and she's even growing back some of the lost hair. I'm sure there's some medical explanation for what happened there, but sometimes I just think Pepper is a weird cat. www.flyingomelette.com

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Lady is getting better around the other cats. She walked into the dining room and did the "flop and roll" thing at my feet when I came home from work. She ate her treats in the room with the other three. When they were done eating, Mel saw Lady and rolled over onto her back, which I think is her way of trying to make friends (cat experts claim this is their way of showing "submission"). Lady didn't respond to Mel much, though, but she didn't run away growling, either, like she usually does. Pepper started purring really loudly when I gave her some treats. At first, I was a little worried about her because she was stumbling more than she usually does, but I think her leg was just asleep. www.flyingomelette.com

Yesterday, when I was getting ready to take my brother home, I put on my shoes, and when I put my foot down, it touched the top of Pepper's head. I did not realize she was there (I was sitting on the sofa and she was out of my field of view) One time I accidentally got her when I turned around, and I thought I hit her harder that time, but she was more upset this time. She wouldn't let me get close to her at all, even when I tried petting her. I ended up bribing her with treats, which at least calmed her down a little. Even now she still acts scared of me, especially when I walk around with shoes on.

FO and I were doing laundry in the basement, and Lady and Caramel were down there (Hermes stopped by, but didn't come all the way down). As long as Caramel doesn't get too rough with her like she did with Pepper, maybe they will become friends.

I asked Crawl if it was Mel, but he must have been too sound asleep to hear me. I looked over and saw Hermes lying on the cat castle, so I figured it had to be Mel since I don't think Pepper or Lady would do that. She was too heavy for my back, though, so I started shuffling to get her to move off. I think she spent the rest of the night alongside me. Fitting, since we originally bought it for her, though she never used it until we moved. Now it seems like whenever Mel or Pepper want a dark spot to sleep in for awhile, they get underneath one of the futons, and go all the way into the back corner. Sometimes, Mel sleeps underneath the bed upstairs, too. Hermes has been getting in the window more lately. He didn't used to show much interest in looking outside. When she goes to the bathroom and is all done, including burying it, she then JUMPS out of the litterbox and CHARGES across the room, as fast as she can go! It's so cute! I don't know if she does that because going to the bathroom makes her feel energized or if it's something else. When I was downstairs last night, she slept with me twice. First, she was close to my arm; she had her tail on it. She kept snuggling in closer and closer until she was against me. Then she got up to look out the window and maybe have a snack. Then she laid down near my legs. It seems like whenever I go to the kitchen, she gets up and follows me, lest she miss out on a treat opportunity. But I haven't seen her do that "face thing" for any treat other than the hairball controls. Mel was peeking out the window on the left side of the front door. Hermes was completely in the windowsill of the right side front window. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Lady Lumps has been very loving tonight. She's spent a lot of time in the front rooms with me. There are a lot of neighborhood cats that we see when we go for walks. Sometimes, they're in windows inside the houses, but other times there will be one sitting on a porch or in the yard in front. We've seen a gray-and-white cat on the same porch twice now, and a tabby that looks a little like Pepper in front of the same house twice. The first time we saw her, she was on the porch, but tonight she was lying on the lawn. We also saw what I think was a Maine Coon running around. It had a huge fluffy tail. Bigger than even Mel's tail (and Mel has the biggest tail of all our cats). www.flyingomelette.com

She's been out here in the front rooms with me ever since I came home. And she did her flop-roll-bicycle-purr routine when I walked in. She did grumble and leave once when she saw Hermes, but he went upstairs and she came back out. It's mostly him that she doesn't like, she seems to be getting better around Mel and Pepper. Right now she seems confused by Pepper's toy bird. It seems like she knows it's not alive, but she's confused that it makes a noise like it's alive when she moves it. So, she's been very cautiously pawing at it and sniffing it. www.flyingomelette.com
