Hey, don't forget that Zanac, a flicker and slowdown-free NES bullet hell shooter with a dynamic AI was only made by three or four people.

I've played it a couple times before, but I'll give you credit for getting me to replay it at this particular time.

Got past the pit in Star Fox Adventures. Turns out I had to push the block into a gap that, thanks to depth perception, didn't look at all like it
could even fit the block, and only then would it allow me to climb onto it; despite the fact where I had it I could've reached the same place anyway. ARGH.
After an odd scene involving setting people on fire, I had to put shapes in the right slots for... some reason. A walkthrough says that it's to make some platforms rise, but unlike everything in the game, there's no swooshy-camera movie scene demonstrating this. Then after more dilly-dallying, I had to conquer THE TEST OF FEAR. Conquering your fear in the video game world amounts to keeping a bar from touching the sides, apparently. It throws you back to the beginning of the temple if you mess up, and thanks to it travelling a fair distance even after you turn its direction, I couldn't be bothered to finish it off. |

I worked on Dragon Warrior a little bit tonight. And if my cart decides that it only works in the up position, then that's his choice and it's OKAY.
I made it to level 4. It's good knowing that there's a nice fresh battery in that cart. |

playing version 7 of the beginner's version. the town graphics is slightly improved and using darker colours, but dungeon colours are still weird(not as weird as in dungeons of the unforgiven). using an ogre priest so my money would be of some use for buying expensive armour if i don't find any good ones early in the game. priests can't use great swords but i think i'll be sticking to a shortword if he can carry one. the bigger weapons are suppose to be very slow. |

BoFII: Struggling with slamming Bugbears in Tagwoods.
HL2: Struggling with pulse rifling dropships in Sandtraps Doom 3: Doing quite well. From what I can gather, the controller configuration for SNES games for the FC 3 Plus goes like this:
Yes, it's a 6 button Genesis controller with shoulder buttons in the shape of a SNES controller. It's a DE-9 like Genesis and Atari 2600, but the plug is shorter. Also, it's pretty much the only controller that will work for the system. |

Wow, that would make any game that doesn't have a controller configuration unplayable.
And to think it would be so easy to have had it Y X R B A L making it pretty much like the SNES already was. |

Dragon Warrior- Level 6, fighting near Kol. Substandard equipment- Copper Sword, Leather Armor, Small Shield. Gotta do some major fighting for gold. The
question is whether I just get the Half Plate armor or go nuts and save up for the Full Plate.
I've honestly forgotten more about this game than I would have thought possible considering that I've played it a billion times and even wrote a walkthrough for one version of it. I've thought about reading that to see what I bought and what I did the last time I played, but I feel like it would spoil the experience somewhat. |

mw4: mercs.
there's no bloody way i could get thru the "medium threat" missions on veteran difficulty , while sticking with the wolf's dragoons merc grp. clan mechs and weapons are just too damn expensive. and if i use IS mechs, there's a shortage of IS weapons for me to buy while sponsored by the wolfies, so i can't play puretech this way. switching back to regular difficulty. i do want to complete this game at least once using the wolfies as my sponsor. ... almost there. doing the 2nd last mission("resupply"). lost 2 more bloody expensive assault mecs in the "overlord" mission. but the mission paid so well, it didn't matter. realised i could get specific mecs from the mektek mod by buying/selling certain mec models several times. buying/selling vultures got me the vulture-c, which is a vulture/maddog with bigger ballistic slots. buying/selling shadowcats got me the reaver, which is kinda like a medium-weight wolfhound but it's clan tech. |

Picked off three more levels in PREY. Only four to go. Yeah, this game isn't really wowing me. The organic environment is nice, but the game is mostly just
plodding along with no real sense of accomplishment.
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis has the best introduction I've seen in a long time. |

It's not wrong of me to leave neutral feedback when the NES controllers I ordered are REALLY dirty, the seller waited 7 days to even ship them, and he
didn't use any packing material, right? I'm getting tired of these people getting a free pass. The good thing is that the buttons feel new and really
responsive, either refurbished or minimally used, so that's why no negative.
In Dragon Warrior, I'm at level 8, still outside of Kol. I bought the axe. It might have been feasible in the remakes to save up for the full plate armor before moving on, but I don't think it makes a lot of sense in this version. The half plate should allow me to get into higher gold earning areas without too much trouble, and IIRC, I can encounter Goldmen soon. I first made it here around level 5 with just the Club and Leather Armor and I was staying within two steps of town, praying not to run into any Skeletons. Now that I have the Sleep spell and the Axe, the tables have turned and I'm hunting them down. I do like that you have to work for your accomplishments in this version. Yeah, it's a fairly primitive game where 90% of it is spent fighting for Gold or Experience. But damn, it feels nice to finally buy that new thing you've been saving for and to hear that level up sound. It might make sense on paper to say, reduce the grind by about 50%, but since the grind pretty much IS the game, the experience is ruined. You can pretty much march through the whole thing with no danger because you don't have to take any chances on less effective equipment or lower levels, because it's just so EASY to get the best stuff money can buy. That tension I was describing regarding the skeletons... I don't know if that kind of excitement exists at all in the remake. |

I was messing around with Tiny Toon Adventures, and it doesn't seem too bad. The play control in general is really good, but varies a bit as you change
characters. I probably would have adored this as a child because I was completely obsessed with the cartoon. I think I was in first or second grade and I'd
watch it every day after school.

Not exactly new information here, but I was bored and made a little side by side Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior comparison page for the first part of the
game. It's probably not really worth going beyond that, since there wouldn't be many other changes to comment on, but I'd consider it if I found
something.
Might be interesting to add in the GBC and SNES versions at some point. I actually have some SNES screencaps, but I like the side by side thing, and three pictures won't fit side by side. I'll have to reformat it at that point. Dragon Quest/Warrior Differences |

I was confused enough by the Grave of Garin that I had to map it when I played the remake. Other than that, though, yeah, the game is pretty much a pointless
cakewalk.

Crawl and 1OOO |

Huh, I didn't know that stuff about Dragon Warrior. I'm one of the few people on the internet who likes passwords, so I might have liked something
like that as an option (though for a game with as many numbers to save as DW, more than RCR I'd guess ... Well, I'm surprised the password isn't
longer.)
And you always look the same way? That sounds like ass. |

Yeah. And that's true of every NPC, as well. It looks so ridiculous in motion that it's worth finding the ROM and trying it out. It's like the hero
is walking backwards whenever he walks "up" the screen.

Crawl and 1OOO |

It's amazing that it became such a huge hit in Japan, considering. (and was received indifferently here)
Do you know if Japan ever got the improved American version? Though I guess by now they could play the ROM just like we can for their version. |

It doesn't appear so. It was released on the MSX after the Famicom, but that might have been even worse due to horrendous scrolling issues.
The Super Famicom re-release is the best Japanese version, I suppose. But much like the GBC remake, it's ridiculously easy. I played through a translated version and was not that impressed. I also find the visuals to be not as charming as on the NES. Wikipedia says that Dragon Quest II also used a password system.
