Persona 3 has taught me a lot about High School in Japan. I never knew that the entire day's education consisted of either answering one question or taking a nap on your desk to stay in good dungeon crawling condition. I've made it to floor 4 of the dungeon. It's seriously intimidating, that place, especially since I don't know shit about Persona fusion right now. The dungeon is actually what the school transforms into during the hidden hour (Dark Hour). If you explore a dungeon for too long, your party members get tired and you should leave. If you keep pushing it, they can get "Sick" status, which is what happened to one of my party members, even though I thought I got out quickly. Posts: 2952 (01/02/09 9:45 PM) I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Oh man, if Galvatron/Grey Leader Rules thought the Baron of Hell spamming in Thy Flesh Consumed was bad (and I thought it was), in Doom 2 there's a room that's full of the bastards, AND a Cyberdemon! I tried killing them all, wasted all my health and ammo, then had to reload my save from the beginning of the stage. When I went to get this screen, I realized there's an amusing trick to this. Spoiler [+] When you enter the room and walk to where I am, the Cyberdemon will see you but he doesn't alert the Barons, who stay standing where they are. The Cyberdemon will try to fire a rocket at you but will instead hit the Barons, who then turn on the Cyberdemon. Run back out the room and wait for them to butcher each other, then pick off the survivors. Not only that, the level before was a boss fight with four fireball-throwing demons on towers (they're new to Doom 2) and when you kill them, six or eight Spider Masterminds (the final boss of Doom 1) come in! I don't think it had anything to do with installing upgrades. It just lost power. I don't know for sure what happened, but maybe I accidentally nudged the battery and briefly disconnected it. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me. Anyway, I made back almost everything I lost, and more. The one thing I did NOT earn back was the iron spear. Glynn is able to equip that, and it's more powerful than what he had. I won it in a random battle, so I couldn't just get it again. It's not a totally permanent loss, since I believe it can be purchased in stores. The only thing, though, is I don't remember which store, and I haven't been able to find my way back to earlier parts of the game. On the other hand, my characters are at levels 21, 19, and 15. Kailin is practically better, stat-wise, than Glynn, despite being 4 levels lower! She has almost as much HP, and much more MP. The only thing is that her physical attacks are a lot weaker. She recently learned Healall (completely heals one character). Glynn, on the other hand, recently learned Firebane, which attacks every enemy in the opposing party. Kailin only has Inferno, which attacks every enemy in one group / species. Crawl did get the Dragon Slayer sword. I went back to old Alefgard since I didn't notice anything else useful around Beran. I found a tower on a small island south of Alefgard, but that will have to wait until the next time I play.

It'd be like if they had "Mega Man: The Dr. Wily Chronicles".

Took a couple of lives, one of which was my timer (which I had never run out of up to this point). As far as challenge, don't even consider this game. If you need a nice, "unwinding" kind of game, this is perfect. I feel really good about beating this, because it took a lot of time and effort, but it was fun putting that time and effort into it. Highly recommended for any Wii owners. Multiplayer's pretty fun, too.

It's by far the most maze-like dungeon yet. I've had to retreat twice so far. Hopefully I can remember where I've already explored... The path forks quite a bit. (Also great is that I don't know what I'm looking for) I also went back to an earlier town and got Glynn his iron spear again.

That's the kind of boss you fight whenever you happen to get that far. But I also experienced the first Full Moon and there was a special area I had to go through with another boss. There are apparently 200+ floors. Sigh. It's already starting to seem a little repetitive and I've got 55 hours to go if I want to reach the final boss? Nothing is too difficult to beat. I didn't want to escape back to the entrance until I found one the special teleporters, otherwise I'd have to redo many floors. So then I run into a random enemy that gets a lucky hit and kills the main character. When that happens, it's Game Over even if the rest of the party could have won easily. Yeah, I think I'm done now. Also, the randomly generated dungeon thing has got to stop. What a boring, soulless place to explore. I just checked a Youtube video from a few dozen floors in, and it looks exactly like the floor I'm on now. Not similar... identical. That trick with the room full of Barons worked, but not quite as well as I was hoping it would. I was hoping the Cyberdemon would have wiped out all the Barons and I'd only have to plug a few rockets into the Cyberdemon, but the Barons ended up killing the Cyberdemon with about five Barons left. Still a lot better than having to deal with all of them AND the Cyberdemon (plus, one of the Barons went down after a single shotgun blast). When I checked out the room after finishing off the Barons, I found two Invincibility orbs, so I think they wanted me to get those and chainsaw everyone or something. My way was funnier. They've bought back the adventure fields from Sonic Adventure where you have to run around doing pointless little sidequests just to open up the main levels. The camera is still as bad as the one in the Adventure games and you don't get full control of it which makes trying to run backwards a real pain. Anyway, I did a few of Sonic's levels. The first one wasn't too terrible until I got to a part where Sonic is constantly running forward at full speed and just bumping into walls can can hurt you. Merely touching a wall with no rings will kill you and this combined with dodgy collision detection made for a horrible stage, I must have died at least 4 times on it. There was then a boss battle against a giant metal tiger. I had to try and get Sonic to grind across the bosses' tail and then he'd automatically grab onto the head. You then got to control the boss and needed to get it to crash into a wall to do any damage. zzzzz. I watched Star Trek II afterwards, which was great.

Yeah, I guess it's too important to have a subtitle. It thinks it's the definitive PoP or something. Are they eventually going to make a new Mario game and just call it Super Mario Brothers again? Sonic (see above) did that with a game that was even more shitty than usual. The graphics in the restored areas of the game are very nice. They did a good job with the lighting in particular. It looks like sunlight, but it's not bloomed. Except for this poor guy who was having some trouble with the PC version. When you're in an area that hasn't been restored yet, things are kind of gray, though. It does in fact, seem impossible to die. Every time I fell off a platform, I was saved by the princess and reappeared back on the previous platform. When I died fighting a boss, I was restored and the only punishment was that the boss regained something like 20% if it's health. There's so much wall and ceiling climbing, and all kinds of crazy jumps to do that it does still feel interesting even without the danger. But I expect that'll fade as the hours pass. After you restore a fertile ground "light gems" appear and I guess you have to collect enough gems in one part of the game world before you can move on to others. Right now, I'm so enrapt in it that when I try doing anything else, I just think about watching the next episode. I also have to really mentally steel myself for that last world of Boulder Dash. I might not have a problem with it if only the play control was a little better-suited to the things they expect you to do. If I somehow manage to beat Boulder Dash, I think the next game I'll play is Clash at Demonhead. I've been curious about that game for ages, but just never got around to playing it. Clod may be a shit character but he's interesting to use. I need to write to 15 pages by Monday. 10 pages on affirmative action, 5 on something else. Sunday night will be boring. I've completed all the levels and rescued five friends in Pac-Man World, but it looks like I'm missing someone as they all need to be freed before I can fight the final boss, Toc-Man. I can find the caged friend, it's just the key is in this aquatic labyrinth of sharks and bad camera angles that requires you to get a steel ball to break item boxes, which strips you of your ability to swim while it's on, meaning you've got to jump across crazy-long gaps to reach all the boxes; and without the steel ball you've got no aquatic attacks at all. And the steel balls are limited. And the only walkthrough for the game isn't very well worded. And the two thirds of the level you've got to go through before you reach the labyrinth is tough.
