Mel did something she has never done before!

She walked up to me while I was in the kitchen and was purring and rubbing up against my legs. I couldn't resist. Even though I know she hates it, I leaned over and picked her up.... But she didn't get upset! She continued purring in my arms and was looking all around. She even started purring more loudly. She eventually got fidgety when Pepper walked in the room, so I put her down. Then I gave her a kitty treat for being so good.

Normally, Caramel cries and struggles and even tries to nip if you pick her up. She's never been that good for me before. I wonder if Mel is just more receptive to being picked up when she's in a loving mood to begin with.

Mel just LOVES those little pink plastic balls. Yesterday, she played almost all day with them, like a one-kitty soccer team. She has four of them, but at least three have gone missing. I'll have to look around for them. When the one she's currently playing with gets stuck or lost, she'll start crying until I find it for her.

She must have really worn herself out playing all day yesterday because both Mel and Pepper are curled up on the bed asleep.

I just wish Mel and Pepper could learn to play with the balls together. Sometimes, Pepper does like chasing after balls, but mostly those fabric catnip-treated balls.

Pepper has a specific way of playing with toys, too. She likes to walk over top of a toy, lie down completely on top of it, roll over onto her side, and then start kicking at it and biting it.

Mel only sometimes does that with her catnip toys, like the bananas or the cigar. She did that with the cigar this morning.

I went over to pet both of them. They both woke up, started purring, then sat up and cleaned themselves....and then they promptly curled up and went back to sleep again. Lazy kitties.

They're not nazis.

That doesn't mean you should just go calling them that on the internet.

What surprises me is that Caramel, a long-hair, has no knots or tangles, but Pepper, a short-hair, does.
