Arlene will go roll herself up in blankets from time to time. Every now and then my mother or I get a shock when we move a blanket, only to have it start
shaking on its own and Arlene crawls out. Sometimes she comes out when she hears me enter the room.

Pepper got in the big tower on her own! She got to it from the chair, not the floor, but it still counts.
In Caramel news, it seems like every time she crosses the room, she has to go through the tunnel. She must really love it. I think sometimes she even gets upset when it's not pointing the right way, and FO had to fix it a couple of times. |

We're probably getting rid of one of our cats. She kept peeing on the floor, and we had to get it cleaned. We're actually giving her to the guy who did
the cleaning, appearently. I guess it's for the better; the dog and the other cat kind of pick on her. My mom told me she might be happier where there
aren't any other pets with which she has to fight for attention. Also, it's kind of illegal to have more than two animals to a household in this area.
I'm kind of sad.

Please don't call me bob. My real name is Grey, so if you want to call me by a shorter/more personnal name, please use that.
The more I think about it, the sadder it's making me. I was trying to give her more love and attention recently, too. It's really out of my control, though. She was never my cat; she was my mom's. My mom says she's going to be sad, too.

Don't worry about it. I can see how it would be easy to make that mistake.

I might go visit the shelter again tomorrow.
While they say they need volunteers to help with things like filling the cats' food and water and cleaning their cages, they didn't seem to be in need for anyone to do that at the moment I visited last time. However, I think a lot of those cats would be happy if people would just go and visit them and take them out and play with them. The Cat That Looks Like Bubba started purring before she even got close enough for me to touch her. She was just happy that I was giving attention to her. They had a calico that's so new she hasn't been named yet, but she'd become audibly jealous if you didn't pay any attention to her. She'd make a loud, "WOOOOOOooooowwwwww!", siren-like caterwaul. One cat that's still very young (less than a year, I'd guess by its size) kept reaching out of the cage, grabbing my arm, and pulling it down into the cage, especially when I tried to pet the cat in the cage above her. They said Hermes (the polydactyl longhair) is still "nippy", but he was friendly with me. He must have even more toes than Caramel. I only got a good look at one of his front paws, but there looked to be at least 6. It was like a Japanese fan of cat toes. I used to clean houses to earn extra money while I was still in college and there was one house that was a huge mansion. If I lived in a place like that, I'd get a couple more cats. |

Caramel was on my lap and I was rubbing her under her chin with my knuckle. She sometimes closes her eyes in satisfaction, but then her eyes were half open,
half closed. And I finally saw her "other" eyelid! Kind of weird. I've heard that cats have two sets of eyelids, but I never saw them before.
There was a time when Pepper was on my lap and I told FO that I probably don't need to post about when Pepper does that, since she does it so often. And she cynically replied, "I don't know if you need to post about it for Caramel, either!" Well, number one, Caramel doesn't do it all the time, and number two, parents are allowed to bore everyone with all the details of what their kids do. So, I'm allowed to do that for my kitties. |

Oh, geez. I think it's possible that Caramel is afriad of us. We went to the shelter today and saw some kitties, and then we saw Minnie Cat and DJ. And
we think Caramel can smell those cats on us.
Boy, Minnie is a huge cat! She's gotta weigh 20 pounds. I tried picking her up, foolishly, but she's too big to be picked up under her arms like a normal cat, and she immediately slid out. She seems to be docile, though, and she let us pet her a lot. I asked my sister how she could get up on the bed, and she said, yeah, she needs to have little pet stairs for her. I'll bet she wouldn't even be able to use the "stairs" we set up for Pepper. Pepper's not the most athletic cat, but she can jump, so the 12" or so height of the boxes is okay for her. But I'd suppose Minnie could only go up stairs if she could walk up them. Boo was just hiding in her cat carrier, so I didn't see her at all. Itty Bitty is a hider, but I caught a few glimpses of her. Poor Boo. I have seen her before, though, maybe 7 or so years ago when I was visiting my sister out of state. My sister said, "Yeah, but that was after you stayed with us for over a week and she got used to you." |

I want Minnie. =(
I've never seen a cat that's shaped like that before. Of all the cats I've seen in my life, she's the most... spherical. |

She's a bowling ball.
Pepper was cuddling with FO by getting under the blanket with her. After she figured out how to do that on her own, I think she's learned she really likes that! But she has gone upstairs now. I wonder if she'll cry for us in the night like she usually does. She likes looking out the big window upstairs, but can be scared of going down the stairs on her own in the dark. |

Then you could post pictures of her with the caption, "I'm a bowling ball."
We might not be getting rid of kitty, after all. The guy never contacted us afterwords to come get her. Yay. But it might be too early to celebrate just yet.

Both Pepper and Caramel slept with us almost all night long.
I woke up once and Caramel was at my feet and Pepper was on the other side of the bed. When I came back, they both tried to sleep between my legs. That would have been cute, but I predicted problems and they did fight. I pulled Pepper (who was closer) up to my chest and then Caramel went on FO, and then they slept until dawn. FO has a fantasy of everyone else going on vacation so we have to have all six kitties at our house at once. |

It was too early to celebrate. I just said goodbye to our kitty. They're taking her right know. I hope she's happy in her new home.

I'm sorry for you.
Our kitties were in and out of bed all night. Right before I woke up they started fighting on top of me, and I put my hand between them, and I only got paw (not claw). So, maybe, hopefully, they (well, Caramel) always do that when they fight like that. |

Pepper has a new thing she does now when I'm sitting at the computer and she wants my attention. She jumps up and puts her paws on the chair or on my legs
and starts pawing really rapidly. It's so cute!
Sometimes, like this morning when Caramel was running all around the upstairs, between the two bedrooms and underneath the futon, I think she would really love a playmate that would chase her around and play with her. Maybe only one in ten times that she tries to get Pepper to play does Pepper actually play back (Pepper usually only likes to play by herself). But I think as much as I love some of those cats at the shelter, I've made the decision to not get another one right now. First of all, we've been lucky in that neither of our cats are that destructive - they don't chew wires. Pepper likes to tear up paper, but it's pretty easy to giver her paper and keep important papers away from her. It would not be so easy to keep computer, phone, and videogame wires away from a cat that would want to chew them. And even if we got a playful cat, there's no guarantee it would play with Caramel. It might just end up like Pepper and want to play by itself. If another stray shows up, we'll figure something out, but both Caramel and Pepper came to us, so it's like they were meant to be with us. Getting another one might be tempting the fates. |

Last night, Pepper slept on my dinner chair. That's a weird place to sleep. I guess she got up because of the planes, but went back to it later.
