When we entered the park, we saw a deer on the road. I tried to get a shot of it, but it didn't take.
We saw a fuzzy caterpillar before we started any walks.
Deer are extremely common in the park. It's almost to the point where you get blasé. Someone will say, "There are deer up ahead!" and I'll think, "Eh, I just saw a fox. It's gonna take more than a deer to wow me now."
But taking pictures of them adds some interest back.
Full.
Full.
We saw some frogs, but it was tough to get a good picture of them. Oh, well.
That's supposed to be a frog head (looking to the right) to the right of a red leaf.
There's a frog in the middle of that shot.
A swamp along the path where we saw those two deer. It looks like there used to be a dam to protect the bridge, but it isn't functioning any more.
Here's another lake (some of the cook out areas look out on it) that has another drain.
It was hard to get any pictures at the window on wildlife where we took our break. Here's the back of a red squirrel (the smaller of the two common squirrel species around here, though still bigger than a chipmunk)
He was moving too much for me to get a good picture from his front.
We ate dinner around this lake. Here's a flock of mallards swimming away.
We did one final trail when the sun was starting to set.
Just off the trail
This last picture was taken just minutes after the previous two. Yet the difference in light is tremendous. I was trying to take a picture of a family of deer (since the previous photos only had one deer each) but I don't know if you can see any.
