People have looked up information on him, and made public his income, his certification (or lack thereof), and how he owed taxes. Now, on the one hand, all that is public record, and it's not necessarily an "attack" in and of itself, it's just a statement of fact. However, I can imagine that an average person wouldn't want attention drawn to facts about themselves, even for things that are a matter of public record.
And again, those complaints are coming from the King of Attack Ads. McCain first put a bad taste in my mouth when he twisted that "lipstick on a pig" remark around to sound like it was being said about Sarah Palin. Everything he's done since then has made me dislike him more and more.
