No more gaming yet, but I've been reading Heir to the Empire. Re-reading actually, but it's been many years and I've forgotten a ton. Really
enjoying it so far.

Muhuhaha!
I played Psychonauts again for almost three hours straight, after a maybe half-hour earlier session. I finished the warped neighborhood, then went through a few of the earlier stages dusting for cobwebs and grabbing any figments of imagination I missed or didn't have the cobweb duster to collect. Then I went through this bipolar actor's head, which was kind of bizzare. There were three sets, and a switch to turn each set between good and evil, and this big fat crtic guy gave me a script. I had to activate that script on the right set, such as the script which called for a knight to run through the scene had to be activated on a set with a dragon. Then that got me another script, and another. Then I got up in some catwalks and had to fight the masked guy who was sabotaging the show, who turned out to be the critic, who I then had to battle. I guess he symbolizes that actor woman letting some critic's scathing review control her life. Then I went back through some more earlier stages for more collectables. I think I'm at level 57 now. EDIT: I also got back to Doom after I was able to get those two Xbox Live Achievements with the help of one of the guys from Gamers Anonymous - we basically took turns busting caps up each other's asses until we both had 100 kills. Thy Flesh Consumed got a lot better at the third stage, when they knocked off that shit with every other enemy being a Baron of Hell, and in fact in the three stages I've cleared so far I've only seen one. I'm at, I think the sixth level now. EDIT 2: Well, I did it. I beat Thy Flesh Consumed. Level 6 went back to BoH spamming, and Levels 7 and 8 had some but they weren't bad. Plus, I had plenty of ammo, and the game didn't throw four at me at once like it did in level 2. ![]() It's time for revenge...

Am I the only person playing anything right now?
I went through two more heads in Psychonauts. One was this guy who thought he was Napoleon, and upon entering his head I found he was a descendant of Napoleon who had been taken over by Napoleon's spirit when he lost some board game to a kid a bunch of times and Napoleon decided he was an insult to the Bonaparte name, and I had to help him win some Risk-like game to get Napoleon to leave. The second was a Mexican artist with an obsession with bullfights, and his level was a little hard on the eyes - a lot of bright colors on black, but at least the colors weren't, you know, neon or something. I had to collect four Queen cards to let him build a tower of cards to a woman in the sky, each one I had to fight a Mexican wrestler for. There was a main road a lot of back alleys, and I had to be quick on the main road because a bull was running through it. When he reached the woman it was revealed he was the bull, and had a Bruce Banner-Hulk thing going on. He turned into the bull out of his frustration when his lover left him for a matador who then tried to kill him, but I had to kill the Matador. In a hilarious bit, after I killed the matador the woman starts mourning him, then turns to the artist and says "I, uh, always loved you more?" Then the artist guy drops them both into a pit, and he and Raz go walking off. Then he turns around, and cracks the pit to hear them go splat. I didn't know where all the stuff I was getting from the actress, the Bonaparte, and the artist was getting at, until I found this guy by an elevator with bad vision, and the stuff was parts of a costume to get by him. ![]() It's time for revenge... |

I played some stuff but it does feel a bit lonely in this topic.
In Terranigma, I restored the wind, which let me fly to the next area. I then had to go through a dungeon to restore the animals. It was probably the best in the game so far, but that's not saying too much. You had to fight monsters to release spirits that would go to a nearby shrine. When you had four spirits, rain would come and the area would be restored, opening a path to the next area. At the end you fight a boss. Didn't really need much strategy, just attack, dodge to the best of my ability, and heal when needed. When the animals were restored, I found out from the lions that there's a lion cub in danger at a nearby canyon, so that's the next area. I did restart my Lord of the Rings subscription. I did a couple of quests, trying to get a feel for the game again and remember what I was doing several months ago. The Fall Festival is going on now so there are some special quests and things available. I'm almost to level 20, which would let me wear heavy armor and may change the game significantly. |

I just officially made it to level 20. I spend about half of my money on new heavy equipment at the auction house. Massively increased my defense rating over
medium armor and there doesn't seem to be any downside. I also gained the ability to use a bow, so I bought a cheap one. The idea would not be to deal
damage since this is a melee class, but rather to hit a particular enemy and possibly draw it away from a group.
Hobbies were added since I last stopped playing so I might have to look into fishing and see how that works. Terranigma update: I cleared the dungeon with the lion cub. It was kind of amusing, more a series of mini-challenges than anything. Of course I managed to waste a ton of time wandering around before I realized you couldn't do anything if the cub wasn't with you. When he wandered off, I assumed I had to clear the dungeon to find him again, but he was really on the next screen or something. The boss was really simple. I'm now at the dungeon where I can restore human beings to the world. I spent some time leveling and earning enough gold to buy the newest piece of armor. Currently at level 14. Kirby Superstar: I'll make enough game progress for all of you! I played through the Dyna Blade game first. I guess Spring Breeze is meant to be the first game, but I just picked something at random. The verdict is that while it was all pleasant enough to look at and listen to, the gameplay was extremely mindless. The only time I lost a life at all was against the final boss of that game and it only took one more try to win. I had something like 15 to 20 lives in reserve as well. I'm playing Sping Breeze next. Oh, I also tried Kirby Samurai but that gets boring within a couple minutes, even on expert.

I don't know about everyone else, but I suppose I could share with you one of the reasons I haven't been able to get back to playing Bubsy 3 lately:
Click it for a larger image. I was going to wait until I was all done before I posted this, but you guys have been so great to me and supportive of the RAU Gallery, that I think you deserve a little preview. Also, it might be a good idea to scan this now in case I fuck it up (and the final will get a better scan since I'll remove the page from the book when I'm done, which usually yields better results). Also, it's not like this is the ONLY thing I've been working on.. There's more, but that will have to wait... |

I beat Psychonauts. I scaled a tower and beat some tank boss on my first try.
Then Raz and Oleander's brains mingle and you're in the final level, which is EXTREMELY irritating. First you're inside a circus tent with Coach Oleander as a kid and everything's made of meat. Bunnies keep getting dropped into a meat grinder and spat out as monsters which go after Oleander. He's chasing a bunny around which you have to grab with Telekinesis and wait for Oleander to come grab it, but Oleander takes his sweet fucking time, and usually I have to drop the rabbit and beat a monster rabbit off him, and then the rabbit hops away. After he gets the rabbit, his beanie flies him up to a higher level, and you have to get up there and help him catch the rabbit again, and he's taking a beating from another monster rabbit while you're struggling with the camera trying to figure out which direction you're supposed to go in. After about four rounds of this, you go outside and ride a rail, but the camera comes back with a vengence as you fight to keep the camera one step ahead of the track. Then you fight his dad, a butcher. The reason Oleander went insane was because his father butchered a pet rabbit of his, or possibly just rabbits in general. You run around a circular room trying to get him to chop so he gets his knife stuck in the ground, run up his arm, and punch him in the face. But most of the time I tried to punch him he shifted and Raz slid off, or the punch went right through him. Finally, I found juuust the right spot to hit him. Then Raz's dad appears in zombie form, and I had to go through this obstacle course with more bad camera and control programming, plus some other BS like Raz's zombie dad dropping bombs on him while he's trying to climb up a bunch of ropes, but Raz wouldn't climb the rope right away, and would often get knocked back down when a bomb hit him. The end was just me holding up to have Raz climb a ladder for about two minutes. I think Tim Schafer was channeling Fumito Ueda for most of this level. Then Oleander and Raz's dads team up, and you throw these flaming juggling pins at the butcher dad, then punch his head again. When he dies he falls into a giant meat grinder in the middle of the room. Then Raz's real dad comes in zaps the evil dad into the meat grinder, and the two evil dads fuse into one and you're at the final boss. Raz's dad charges him with psychic energy, which creates this giant red electric Raz with the real Raz in the chest, and the final boss goes like this: Run up to the monster dad and button mash him until Raz turns back to normal. Slowly run from the monster dads so he tries to stomp you, and double jump to avoid that. Keep going until that blue meter in the upper right fills, Raz goes super, and button mash the monster until the meter depletes. Repeat until final boss dies. The ending was all warm and fuzzy, at least, so the game tried to make up for that. ![]() It's time for revenge... |

look quite as good as the originals...

I love how Honen looks in that picture, FO. So, so cute.
pOrn Sigma wrote: I beat that game a long time ago and the horrible voice acting is still eating away at my inner cranium. If it's annoying level design you want, just wait until you get to the last area. The only other game I can think of where I fell that many times due to tiny platforms and slippery play control and had to do the area all over again were certain parts of Kingsley's Adventure. Sounds like you're on the road to Xel'lotath. |

Thanks, everyone.
I'm just wondering how many more characters I'll be able to fit in. Zumo will definitely be in the final, but he's easy to put just about anywhere. I want to have Taura next to Sesa, and I'd like to fit Raymond in eventually, too. I think Sethra would be disappointed if I didn't put Lizaki in there, but he might be a little trickier because of his odd body shape... |

I made it to the 29th floor of the tower in Azure Dreams, but had to bail out because my familiars both got taken out.
Guess I'll have to level them up some more. Some old guy gave me a Kid egg for returning three bells the Souvenirs stole, which I leveled into a Dragon and fused with a Volcano into a Blith. ![]() It's time for revenge... |

mechwarrior4: mercs
finally beat it at regular difficulty. i estimate it's like 50% harder than recruit difficulty.can't seem to get through the missions for defending davion's templar mechs, and the final sabotage mission against steiner's fafnir factory, without losing more than a few of my assault mechs. the second last davion mission was sickeningly buggy. a few time i should have won the mission if it didn't hang,or an enemy gets stuck in some polygons and becomes invincible or... one time, a victor mech sunk 2 kilometres into the ground. the game engine created an invisible black hole?!?! after beating the game, i reloaded to the point before i went to tharak for the final 3 davion missions, and went to solaris again. spent about 8hrs making it to the grand championship. got defeated several times before making it into 3rd place using a sunder(i think i armed it with a large pulse laser and a rotary autocannon5). 2 daishits loaded with longrange missiles survived me. would be easier if feng cheng's vulture didn't gang up with the 2 daishits against me. === ok. i'm finally gonna check out those roms i said i was gonna play a few months ago. but i still haven't completed lord destruction, earthbound, BoF2, harvest moon. haven't finished replaying deus ex, star ocean, FF3(US ver),and some new Civ4 game i started last month. === FO: you're drawing a reunion musical?!?! |

hey... exile isn't like zelda. it looks more like an even more simple Ys, but with better graphics(compared to the SNES versions of Ys anyway).
flashback:quest for identity reminds me a lot of blackthorne. but i read there's some minigames in it which you won't find in blackthorne. doesn't the beginning of robotrek look a hell lot like pokemon red/blue/yellow? even the hometown looks like pallet town. anways, i wonder if i can rename my 1st robo. i want change to "red comet".
