My pikachu N64 is sort of visible in this picture I took of my Final Fantasy 4 stuff (along with my HP graphing calculator) (except that an instruction manual seems to be on top of it).

It also showed up in the background of this picture.



The Pac Man table top is on the top shelf (along with who knows else -- maybe a Turbo Duo?). The next shelf down had the Pikachu N64, along with another system (maybe my Saturn? It doesn't really look like it, though).

Then the next shelf down has my small remodel SNES resting on top of my NES. And on the bottom, again, I don't know -- maybe a Gamecube.



Anyway, it seriously is probably one of the most interesting systems I own. That other people might not like it just seems to make it more unique.

I played about an hour of Final Fantasy XII.

Yeah, the exposition was terrible. "The kingdom of Damasca is invaded by the country of Albania and King Doobie-di-doo had a son Abadax who just married Ash and is killed by his loyal guard Dibbidy Dibbidy and now you're Bond, James Bond and you have a friend Jamj and you're..."

And I'm like, am I supposed to get any of that? What the fuck? Actually, the surprising thing to me when I wrote that paragraph was, I actually did remember the events that happened; I just don't remember any of the names.

That name shit has been a problem with all of these guys' games. This is a paragraph from Netjak's review of Tactics Ogre:

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together takes place, from what I gathered, a few years after the formation of the Zetegenian empire. It has been a few years since the death of the widely loved King Dolgare, who brought peace and ethnic equality to the land for 50 years. Now, Branto, a power-hungry Bishop from Bacrum, has formed the Bacrum-Valerian state with the invading Lodis army, and seeks to take over the entire continent of Valeria with the help of the Roslolian "Dark" Knights. Meanwhile, in Southern Valeria, the Gargastan King Barbatos has received approval from Branto to invade Walsta and enslave its people. Tactics Ogre begins in a small docks village in Walsta, where two teenagers, Kachua and Brodie (you can name the latter character whatever you wish - I chose Brodie), join a team of five knights from Zenobia lead by the Holy Knight Lans in an attempt to reclaim the Walstanian State from the imperialistic Gargastans. Such is the basis for the beginning of the plot, a plot that is truly wonderful and well-told.

I criticized the review for pushing that incomprehensible stuff at the beginning, but it also could be considered to be the game's fault.


I was literally being put to sleep by the game. I thought it must have been late, then after saving I looked over and saw that it was only 8:30!

About half to three-quarters of the time I spent "playing" last night was literally spent watching videos. Hardly any gameplay at all. When I did a chance to play, it was in a very limited preview form, and I didn't really get it. You control one person's movements in real time, but he will only attack when his bar is full. The game said that after you target an enemy and run up to that enemy, you'll keep attacking it, over and over, as often as your bar allows. However, in the first segment, it seemed like all the other characters would kill the enemies before my bar filled. It also seemed like I wasn't DOING anything. Running up to an enemy and waiting for a bar to fill does not count as playing.

When I fought the rats, it seemed like the thing to do was, target, attack, then run away as the bar fills, then move in again and instantly attack.

After that I had to explore a town, and it was just overwhelmingly huge for something to do at the beginning of a game. I just wanted to save and quit.
