But surely there must have been moments when I doubted whether I'd vote for Obama.
What about when he said we need to "turn off the TV"? What else will bring us joy in our barren lives then??? |

run for 2012?!?If that happens, it'll probably secure Obama's second term. |

FiveThirtyEight pegs his chances at 96.7%, so I'm pretty confident too.

One thing that was really weird to me about McCain's campaign is that he made almost zero effort to appeal to a wide audience. I guess you could say that
I'm not a swing voter anyway, so how would I know what would interest independents or centrists or those whom McCain might have a chance to persuade, but
the pundits agree with me. His message has been almost exclusively aimed at the Republican "base".
Anyway, that has all just been to give me an excuse to post this video. Obama does come across as someone who can unite here. On the one hand, he demonstrates more knowledge of the bible than I've ever seen Bush or McCain demonstrate, but on the other hand what he's saying could even connect with atheists. It even reminds me of what I posted a while ago: It's similar to how people (should) interact on message boards. You can't convince someone else of something because you really want them to think that way, you need to reason with them, because reason is supposedly objective and can form a middle ground. |

That's even in the Bible, from Jesus.
Consider the lilies, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; yet I say unto you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. I don't think anyone actually follows that. |

i don't quite get the quote. aren't most monks rather hard-working, except those who totally isolate themselves in meditation?
anyways, i'm still afraid mccame has a chance to win. i mean, at the beginning of 2000, who would have imagined that a bush/dick combo could get that lucky? and go for seconds! |

I don't know where to get data for the 2000 election, but this is for the 2004 election. After the Republican National convention, the polls were pretty close. This is 2008. The post convention bounce put McCain in a small lead for a brief amount of time, but since then, Obama has consistently been in the lead, by ever widening margins. Kerry was never up by this much in the polls. And that race was close: 286 to 251 electoral votes, 50.7 to 48.3% popular. |

Seems like McCain's been dropping downhill ever since the first debate. Funny because I came away from that thinking he might have done better.
Kerry just fucking blew it. It's like he really wasn't taking the election seriously enough. Obama doesn't have that problem. The Omni-Wonder
of the Universe has spoken
