I can imagine that, on consoles with more primitive graphics, they had to fill in the blanks a little bit. This, for example, is the Commodore 64 version: I live on the internet.

Though it's probably true that whoever did the cover artwork didn't communicate with anyone else. (Which probably also explains the Mega Man 1 artwork)
