I guess I should have posted more. His name is Chase and apparently he was hit by a car when he was a kitten and lost his face. From what I read, they have to
put drops in his eyes every day to keep them moisturized, but other than that, he's not in any pain and lives a normal life.

Well, maybe, but I think the main thing is that the cat is probably happy to be alive and in good care, and there were people who were willing to take care of
her despite her looks (yeah, my bad, for some reason I called Chase a "he" earlier, but it's actually a "she".) I doubt the cat even
understands that it looks so weird.

Ugh, ack. I'm not saying that about the cat; I think it's great that she's still alive and in a loving home- but I hate it when people
"talk" for animals (and sometimes babies.) Commercials that do that are particularly annoying to me.

Okay, how hard can it be to pull this off...?
There's Rockford (well, there's two Rockfords because the game can have 2 players, but anyway)... He's a little guy in a miner's helmet. Easy enough to understand, right? How difficult can it be to represent this on game box art? 
There's the NES version. Well, NES games often tried to make the box art look more "realistic" than the game graphics, but... 
... apparently, in the GBA version, he's a cat/pikachu hybrid monstrosity.

beloved characters that were horribly messed up: that creepy Mickey Mouse video, not Rockford up there, that infamous Megaman cover, the entire
"Bayformers" Transformers movie...

ultima i's boxart looks like any olde generic rpg except that dragon looks too metallic.
ultima ii's artwork made it look more like a buck rogers game. 
wow. this looks like ultima: the DOOM maps. 
and in ultima iv, it suddenly turns biblical.

Taking a look at them again, I see that while they might be cute, they had
to interpolate to make the main characters look like anything, and what they came up with might not make how a player imagined them from the sprites.
