Yuku - how the heck do you get the "last post by" column on the listings page to show...? |

And how did you get those search strings to show up?
See how your opinion ruined Christmas for everyone!

Finally...figured...it out!
That was just unnecessarily difficult. I better keep the code handy in case I ever decide to get rid of it again.

I didn't notice your reply until just now. Consequently, I had to think hard to figure out what you were referring to.
There's some option that turns those on. I checked it not knowing what it was and when I saw what it did, I unchecked it again. That just makes the forums look way too cluttered.

Yuku is fail. Get Invision or PHPBB or SMF.

Invision sucks. I dealt with it once, never again. PHPBB are little more than spambot magnets. Never heard of SMF, but I'm betting 10 to 1, that it also
lacks the ability to have linked accounts, which is essential when more than one person in a house uses the forums.
Why this is not a standard feature on ALL message boards now is beyond me when Ezboard had it years ago. (Oh, yes, I know why - because software is generally not made by people who actually intend to use it and because generally the internet doesn't care.) I just made a huge post on my thoughts of how slow message board technology is to evolved (and in fact, every time a new one comes out they seem to take steps backwards). Maybe I'll repost it, but maybe not.

We all had our fun joking about how Yuku was going to fail, but it's really a superb system, IMO. A little too much downtime but I guess they're
technically still in beta.

Well Yuku is basically ezboard 5.0, but when they were first advertising Yuku, they were pushing it as some sort of myspace ripoff.

One thing that makes Yuku superior to other message board services I've seen is the free (and seemingly unlimited) image hosting. No more do you have to
worry about getting your own offsite image hosting service or domain or all of the restrictions that come with them. You just upload them to your avatars
folder or make a new image folder and you don't even have to copy the URLs to post them. You just click that button to insert an image from your gallery,
choose the one you want, and voila.

It's now much easier to tell if the last post made in a forum is one I saw already or not since the New Topic Alien Egg thingies don't always work right for me. (Sometimes they don't show up even when there's a new post and sometimes they reappear even when there hasn't been any new posts.) |
