In the sketch, Talon does strike out on a g. What's amazing, though, is that there were only 3 letters (out of 29 originally) left to guess! Maybe Cory was right that that was a legitimate, non-cheating way to build his vocabulary.
If he guessed according to letter frequency until "c", he then probably had enough to guess the beginning, c_cl_, was "cyclo" something. Those two letters, plus he next "m" from letter frequency, would have been enough to win.
