this topic will probably make absolutely no sense to a non-r.e.m. fan. and r.e.m. fans have complained about me being incoherent.
yeah... thought i'll post this here too, since it's so nice and quiet.

they said it will rock and it did. i think i can only compare this to monster , NAIHF and maybe document. i've never heard every single song(just a few singles, stuff put on compilations, and downloads) on document as a whole in its original album form.

this album has that kinda energy found on document, when they first started sounding like a bigass arena rock band.

overall it rocks (maybe) harder than monster , with a more consistent sound fitting all the songs together. i always thought the songs on monster were hit and miss. but monster does have more catchier tunes(bang & blame , WTFK, strange currencies) which i can still easily replay in my head without hinting. so far the only song on accelerate i can't get out of my head is supernautral, but that might be due to the fact i already watched the video several times over before finally finding this album. (strange that i couldn't find accelerate in the more mainstream local music stores, even though r.e.m. are signed to a major distributer like warner.)

tracks like houston and until the day is done, remind me lot of "how the west was won..." and low desert from NAIHF. and the tracks all seem to be mixed in a way that they all sound like they could have been recorded live on a stage, while (if i remember correctly) most of the tracks on NAIHF were actually taken from sound checks they recorded while touring.interesting similarities there. and oh look, i only just noticed they're both black and white. one's made of of elaborate drawings and bold fonts, the other's full of seemingly candid photographs and boring lower-cased courier for its font. both albums sound like the band concocting a brew from a old formula, which surprisingly doesn't turn out to be a dullard. this old spice could still be warming up and booming granny... ewww that definitely sounds dirty.

time will tell if this a slow burner like NAIHF, and if i actually like it better than NAIHF.
