This is looking really cool and perhaps I'll play the game at some point.

Your map was really nicely drawn.

Just one thing I was curious about: It's pretty normal for a Japanese game to have Japanese text, right? I know some are all in English, but it seemed out of place in the oddities section. Or maybe not...I actually think it's interesting that the text boxes in their version have a red background and ours have green.

Equinox is a European game. It's normal to have Japanese text in the Japanese versions, but it's a difference, so I noted it.

Did you ever find an emulator version that could actually play the game properly, at least most of the time?

I was thinking about playing it and I guess I could buy the cart and hook up my fake NES/SNES thing, but I don't know if I feel like dealing with that.

Yeah, SNES9X plays it just fine so far. I would recommend getting the rom from romhustler.net. I had an old rom that was a bad dump.

Thanks, I'm definitely curious. Although maybe with save states I could actually be bothered to play through Solstice. I had a childhood fascination with that game, but the inability to save kept me from ever trying to finish it.

This shrine is making me want to go plug in my cart and play this. I beat the first dungeon a long time ago, then quit. I haven't looked through the guide, mostly just looking at the oddities and monsters.

It seems like the code works, however, it only warps you around rooms in the current dungeon. So I guess it'll have to wait until I get to the 7th dungeon and I'm only on the fifth right now.

Actually...He also came up with an invincibility code in another topic...maybe I could use that to quickly work my way to the 7th dungeon with a different ROM and Save state...

I made a copy of the ROM and my savestate so I wouldn't screw up my earlier save (I still want to beat Dungeons 5 and 6 without cheating), but I've been using his invincibility code to get through them and I have all 12 tokens in Dungeon 6 now, I'm just trying to find the boss room. I'm one blue key away from it, and then I'll be able to beat the boss and move onto Dungeon 7. We'll see if the code can shed some light on that missing room then...

Room 07-02 has been found!!

Exact code to get there is 7E0F1C:CA. As soon as you begin the Ghost Ship, enter the first door with that code activated, and you'll warp right to it:

There it is, 07-02.

It's a big, empty, incomplete room!

No entrance, no exit, no obstacles, no enemies, no items.

Now, it's even more mysterious. Before I actually saw it, what I was expecting was a room that had to be shut off from the rest of the game because of some problem, but was otherwise complete. But why start a room and then not finish it?? And it's big, too, so I suspect something more was planned to be put in here as opposed to being just a connector room.

Look at Dan Engel's map at GameFAQs.

It's neighboring rooms are surrounding a huge gap. It's like it was supposed to be smack right in the middle of Rooms 04 and 05 and/or 07 and 08.

It's so weird. If the room couldn't be finished why not renumber the existing rooms to accommodate the removal of this one? Or why not just make it an otherwise purposeless connector room like 21 of Deeso?

One theory that this definitely rules out is that the room was accessible through normal gameplay all along but was just hidden so well that we all overlooked it. Even though I thought I was pretty thorough checking everywhere for this room, I still often wondered if that was the case.

Back when I first beat this game, I actually emailed Dan about two of the rooms he was missing on his FAQ at the time. (One was 21 of Deeso, and one was a Quagmire room - I know which one, but I don't know the number. Funny thing is, it's actually shown in the demo.) But 07-02 still eluded me.

Well, one reason why not is because I don't even know if the boss does exist in the ROM. He's listed with the other bosses in the ROM and one of the programmers said it was his favorite boss battle in an interview, but neither means for an absolute fact that he's in there.

I can mention it over there to see if anyone wants to take up the challenge of finding him.

The addition of the many images to your Equinox Shrine for positioning -- complementing the text descriptions -- is an order of magnitude greater than I've seen in most HTML-based walkthroughs. I once saw my younger brother attempt to play this game. He didn't get very far into it, but the sheer depth of the Shrine has inspired me to pick up a ROM of the game and give it a decent play-through. Should I run into any problems, I'm more than likely to check out the Equinox Shrine for help on any specific part of the game.
