The last time we had one of these, I said it was AC/DC's 'Big Balls'.

Now, I'm disqualifying that one, so what's next?

FO suggested "Cherry Pie", which is a pretty good choice. Also, Korn's "Shoots and Ladders".

I still think Mambo #5 is pretty bad, but I'm now wondering if Shoots and Ladders is even worse. At least Mambo #5 had original lyrics.

I'm actually thinking now that Kid Rock's "You're So Hot" is worse than "Cherry Pie". When Keed Rock is singing that he wants to fuck somebody, I can't help but think the song is about his cousin.

Why would that subject automatically qualify a song for being worst ever? The music industry has been known for tackling heavy political issues. Look at the lyrics to "Born in the USA", "Rockin' in the Free World", or "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)".

I was thinking earlier today that what ruined music in the 80's were the New Kids on the Block. When you look at other 80's pop bands, like The Hooters and The Thompson Twins, they could (at least) play their own instruments. While some more-respected bands are known for having a lead singer that doesn't usually play an instrument, such as The Rolling Stones, at least everyone else in the band is, but with NKOTB, c'mon, you've got FIVE lead singers and not one is playing an instrument or has written a word of their lyrics. Other pop groups were also more versatile. There's a big difference between "And We Danced", and "All You Zombies". I don't think NKOTB ever did anything more challenging than "Hangin' Tough".

That's all bad in itself, but what made it far worse is that somehow New Kids became popular enough to have a toyline based on them, a TV cartoon series, and ALMOST an NES videogame. They are also what paved the way for embarrassing acts like Milli Vanilli.

i like the sex pistols... but they were a manufactured band. it's like a guilty indulgence. they weren't exactly thoughtfully political like the clash were. you can never say that the sex pistols were talented musicians. it really was just 3 chords all the way. they were one big cliche and eventually were considered a parody of punk culture, no?

the lyrics for "bodies" were deliberately tasteless(well, all of their songs were), and in more recent year where you have pro-lifers murdering doctors and shoving pictures of dead babies in the public's faces, it just feels even more tasteless.
