For the imagery, I intentionally went with less space stuff because I wanted to balance out a lot of the pre-release material that over emphasized it.

Look upon it and despair. Or you can like it if you want to. I pretty much
pounded it out all at once but I'm satisfied.

Good review. I'm happy to see that Nintendo's doing things to step up the challenge. Insta-kill Thwomps? Three hits and you're dead? That's
very small for a Mario-style platformer. Mario 64 and Sunshine give you 8 hits, BK starts you at 5 and grows much bigger, DK64 gives you like 12 by the end of
the game.
I don't necessarily they accomplish much that they couldn't have done with traditional mechanics "Think" in between "necessarily" and "they"? I feel obligated to mention music "Obliged" is better. |

Thanks, I'll go over it again before I actually have it listed on the site.
Three hits and you're dead? That's very small for a Mario-style platformer. Something I might've mentioned but didn't is that there are stars where you have to complete boss fights or sections of levels without taking a hit. These are some of the game's toughest. That said, I don't want to overstate the difficulty too much. It's surprisingly intense considering how dumbed down games are lately, and tough compared to 64 and most of Sunshine. But with rare exceptions, this isn't something like Lost Levels where you're going to be playing the same stages over and over and over again to get them right. |
