Are there rules about that? I know ice cream in ads is (almost?) never real ice cream, because it would melt under studio lamps.

Also, those "Got Milk?" ads obviously did not use real milk. That was really strange, because what they DID use looked absolutely disgusting. I guess it might be difficult to make a real milk mustache show up on camera. Well, they should have tried harder, because the alternative was not good.

I thought that I read somewhere that sandwiches in advertisements were real, though of course primped and fussed over.

Here's one article on the subject.

To cut to the part about whether it's fake...

She adheres to professional rules and her own personal code. Photographs used as advertisement have to show the real food. She holds the same standards for cookbook photographs. If she has to substitute something to look like the real thing, Naganawa insists the substitute be edible.

She demonstrated, scooping up a look-alike for vanilla ice cream into a sundae dish. Her substitute: powdered sugar mixed with canned frosting.

But it's not clear when she's allowed to substitute, and if that is a "rule" or her own "code".

This article covers some "dirty tricks" food photographers use. (Making things look seared with a blow torch, putting hairspray on food, using motor oil in place of syrups)

I was looking to get a new power cord for my Iomega hard drive. Holy crap at the shipping. This is a tiny little thing, I don't think it weights a pound. This shouldn't be legal. It's like the ebay sellers who list something for $1.00 with $40.00 for shipping.

I think it's just regularish thunderstorms. What I didn't realize from a glance is that the storms are moving almost north, and VERY slowly. We might not even get much over here. But the people that are getting hit must be getting a freaking ton of rain and flooding.
