Honen needs a new avatar.

Well, yes, I suppose getting killed by Metal Gear in a scene that parodies Robocop wouldn't be a very fitting end, but it still made me sad. I have some
predictions for Part 2, but I'll wait until it's posted to see how accurate they are.

Okay, so my predictions were way, way off. The thing is I didn't realize Honen had also gotten sucked into the vortex. I thought what was going to happen
is that when Deuce and Cory arrived they'd find Honen alone, and when he explained what happened, they wouldn't believe his story because of his past
history as Nucleo's enemy.
It was going to be twice as long as that? I think it's a good thing you split it up. It's a really good storyline so far, but that sketch is quite long as it is. Oh, and thanks for the picture of Nucleo kicking Thawhidol's brain avatar away. That made my day. It's not so much that I care about Thawhidol himself anymore, but I fucking hate that avatar. Suppose it would be asking too much to have someone desecrate mobiusclimber's masticating baby... |

That was actually my prediction, too.
Maybe FO could have Dr. Boogie come and take his animation back. |

I turned off Mobiusclimber's avatar. It shouldn't still be showing in his posts.
Crawl thought the reason I did that Thawhidol joke is because I've been harboring some strong grudge for the past 10 years. Well, no, not really. The reason it was done was because I thought it was funny that his avatar was amongst the pictures stored in the old Acer's Netscape Cache, especially since I don't think he posted all that often. So I just made a joke out of it. It's also relevant to the story's overall theme, but that won't be more apparent until the next few sketches. Believe it or not, I had considered a scenario in which Honen is falsely blamed for something happening to Nuc and Im, but I ditched it because I don't think it would go anywhere. Cory would not believe him or trust him, but even if Deuce was skeptical at first, I think eventually she'd believe him. She would know from the burns to his clothing and torso that something must've happened to him. "My feelings hurt, but you know I overcome the pain

Troy, Dev, and ErniePants all got thoroughly lampooned, too.

I definitely think what you did was better. I wasn't complaining. |

at all. I don't really know him outside of the way he acted on the boards years ago, which is what I was specifically parodying, and I don't even know
his real name or what he looks like IRL. If he matured into a fine upstanding intelligent person over the past few years, so what? That's irrelevant.) But
it's one of those issues like with the reader submissions that there's some self-evident reason that's gone over my head that I shouldn't have
ever done anything like that ever.***

I was asked, "What would Nucleo do to religious people if he didn't agree with them? Would he kick them?" Come on, now you're deliberately misrepresenting what I said. I was specificially referring to the type of religious people who hang out in busy places and heckle passers by, with things like, "You're going to hell, sinner," etc. And I still probably wouldn't have said anything if not for you always going on and on about how Nucleo is gentle, and how he's a pacifist. And that still doesn't mean the scene wasn't funny. "My feelings hurt, but you know I overcome the pain

Crawl and 1OOO wrote:What difference does it make? Nucleo actually HAS dealt with people like that in the past. There was an episode where some humans wouldn't let him cross a bridge. Guess what? He's a mountaindevil. He has other ways of getting around things. And I still probably wouldn't have said anything if not for you always going on and on about how Nucleo is gentle, and how he's a pacifist. Most of the times, he is... "pacifist" is too strong of a word, but I don't know what the right word is. Diminutive? Demure? Benevolent? Passive? Not real sure which one is the best (again, lack of education), but that's the entire point of that scene! Thawhidol was so annoying it made him act out-of-character. You once said that people, IRL, do unpredictable things. I realize Nuc is a somewhat-idealized character. That's one of the reasons I have Chance get into arguments with him. And this is a contradiction: If I let you have exactly what you wanted me to do with the series, the characters would always be nice to each other, never say a word of disagreement or negativity to each other, and would learn the values of sharing and caring and just go on about how cute they are. Your reaction to it was "It's time to stop making fun of Thawhidol", which seems to have less to do with Nucleo's character and more do with your strange ideal of being nice to everyone. Let's forget for a moment that it even WAS Thawhidol. Any random person who finds that page and hasn't been to the forums is not even going to know who
Thawhidol is. But I'm sure most people on the internet have, at some point, dealt with a forum troll. (Maybe not as creative as claiming to be the
Anti-Christ, but whatever). Don't you USUALLY find people like that completely unreachable? That they aren't even worth your time? Don't you
usually think the best way of dealing with them is just to blow them off?
Of course you do. You've even told me at least twice on these forums that some people aren't worth replying to (like hypershadwo) and the best thing is to just say, "Shut the fuck up!" "My feelings hurt, but you know I overcome the pain

To step outside of this for a moment, I am not arguing with you. I never said you should remove that scene; in fact, I was against it.
As for "what I wanted you to do with the series", I never wanted you to do anything specific with the series. If I said anything about what characters did / should do, it was undoubtedly a joke, much like the many jokes you make (in real life) about your characters. |

Sometimes I think you're unaware of when you're carrying a joke too far. Somewhere past the 50th "But you're wrong because...", you have
to realize that it's gone beyond a joke and you're upsetting me.
The biggest problem is with myself. I know that you won't find everything I do funny, that's okay. Even I don't like all of my jokes. I recently put an intro to the "Temple of Lost Ezboard Posts" sketch that basically apologizes for it. But I also have to realize that you won't necessarily agree with everything I say or do either, and not just in the "well, I don't find it funny, but moving on..." kind of way, and I have to find the strength within me to go ahead with it anyway. I would substitute Thawhidol with a different more innocuous persona, but his just happened to be the only avatar I found in that cache. I don't even remember if GH64 had an avatar and if he did, I don't think it was any of the pictures that were in there. And I can't remember too much about other so-called "lamers" of that era. Most of them were probably just GH64 with other names, anyway. "My feelings hurt, but you know I overcome the pain

sethrashnoo wrote: The problem is that I swear this has nothing to do with my actual writing. It has everything to do with this expectation of me to maintain a "circle of nice", for whatever reason. I don't have a problem with the replacement scene, but I do have a problem with it being where it is. It drags down the pacing and the tone too much. One good thing about it is that it shows Image's strength of character. But one minute they're talking about finding old avatars, the next they're talking about Honen and Nucleo's past. The two have nothing to do with each other. It's jarring and incongruent. It seems like the old avatars thing is now just dangling there without a punchline. That scene was not originally written to occur in that particular place. I had to rearrange the sketch somewhat in order to split it in half. I had already
been debating the idea of removing that scene for the very reasons both you and I have already said, and the rewrite gave me the perfect excuse to get rid of
it.
I have an idea that might resolve this situation. Let's remove the "deleted" scene (maybe place it somewhere else if you really want to keep it), and go back to the Thawhidol thing. Only now have the dialogue go something like this (I can't remember the original dialogue now, so I'll do my best to pull it from memory): That could work. I'll give it a rewrite and then take a poll. But we might have to forgo the accompanying picture. There won't be any punchline without it, but I think it's for the best. I have an idea... What if I changed Thawhidol to GARDENHO? The ezboard Gardenho was a joke account and the one from N-Sider never posted on our forums at all
and thus I feel we'd be under no real obligation to be "nice" to him. Would that make everyone happy?

Uh, since when are we under an obligation to be nice to Thawhidol? He hasn't even posted in what, seven years?
I'm a little surprised that you even did a Thawhidol joke considering that you said on the Game Pond that they were tired out. But with that said, that joke isn't anywhere near as bad and immature as the shit I used to write about him. Unfortunately, my memory is so bad and I was so damn immature back then that I can't separate the things he really said/did in those old sketches and game ideas from the stuff I made up/exaggerated to see how far I could push him before he'd get upset (which I did because he was always making speeches about how you shouldn't get upset at the internet or something like that.) |

that had him. The problem I had with the other game ideas and Blabber Wars sketch is that they were just more of the same. Thawhidol's Law Firm is
basically the same joke as Cooking With Thawhidol, but it's not as funny. For one thing, courtroom settings can get pretty heated anyway, so to imagine
someone getting pissed off in that setting isn't as funny as to imagine someone swearing at a burnt souffle and then trying to sell burnt souffles outside
his house at a lemonade-style stand.
