I agree with you, FO. I don't understand what is is about being long-winded that people think is so funny. They must not be able to get through any
newspaper or novel without busting a gut.

Why are you posting as Forum Jackass? Isn't that usually your prank account? It's like an old Halloween costume. You're bored, you try it on, you find it surprisingly fun, and you cavort about in it. |

I also don't want to log in at work with my admin accounts unless it's absolutely necessary for some reason, and right now this is the non-admin name I
just chose to use.
I know I'm being a little harsh, but I just don't see how you could NOT realize that was going to happen considering that blog attracts a lot of people from the shallow end of the internet's gene pool, so it's just rather amusing that they're now complaining about something that only two reviews ago they said was hilarious and couldn't wait to see more of. Of course, it's not too late for them to wise up and turn things around, unless Solomon decides to turn the comments off again. Ironically, I don't think there was anything that bad going on when he turned them off and put the blog on hiatus the last time. The discussion under the ComicGenesis entry was particularly fun.
Oh my God, they found Tom.

A good example that comes to mind is that POE forum post I linked a long time ago where someone parodied the dialogue in Metal Gear Solid. You were supposed to skip through it, and at the end there was a line that said, "You just skipped through all of that, didn't you?"

Kind of off topic, but I notice a lot of people in the comments suggesting F@nboy$.
I actually like that webcomic. Some of the stuff they do is so off the wall I can't help but smirk, and I'm not sure I've seen one "hur-hur-hur gay characters and penis" joke there (the closest I recall was that fanfic comic when Sonic was announced in Brawl). Besides, the guy who runs it seems like a pretty decent guy, and actually listens to criticism instead of dismissing comments about his artwork as "it's not bad art, it's a STYLE." |

They shouldn't have reviewed that comic, even as an April Fool's joke. They caused word about who's making it to get out to the internet.
I knew it was a prank comic all along, so knowing where it's coming from doesn't ruin it for me, but it might ruin it if the commentors who don't know that it's a joke find out.

Oh, no. How could they be so foolish? The creators of Power-Up Comics created a comic that pokes fun at Ted David, and the newfeed has a link to the blog. So
far, apparently none of the commenters bothered to look at the comments, and see the link to the topic at the forum of the creators, but it'll probably
happen soon. See for yourself. And I'm pretty upset, too, because I really wanted
to see their plan of carrying on until they're out of ideas and make the next newsfeed post just a link to the topic, come into fruition.

Some people actually were posting the link to the giveaway topic in the comments under the previous PUC entry, but the creator muted them all out.
Although the joke of it has already been given away for some, I'm still betting there will be a good number of people who won't notice, or won't care, and will still take it seriously. When pointlesswasteoftime did an article called something like "The Top Reasons Lord of the Rings Sucks", it was so obviously a joke article, but a lot of people took it seriously, and even after they came right out on the site and said it was a joke in no uncertain terms, people would still show up on the forums to refute the article. I had something (though not quite on that scale) happen to me awhile ago, too...

They really should just move that thread to a hidden forum if they don't want the joke ruined. I was going to suggest that, but I kind of like having
access to the topic myself and I think that if they really wanted to, they would have done that by now.

Yeah, I like being able to see the creation topic, too, because you can see a lot more comics that haven't been put on the DrunkDuck site yet.

Does it seem to anyone else like Penny Arcade has experienced a severe decline in quality in the last 2 or 3 weeks?

The writing to me seems to be about the same as always.
It looks like the art is experimenting with more cartoonish expressions...
...almost like out of Looney Tunes or Ren and Stimpy. I think it's a good thing. The expression in the "Can you hear the waffles?" picture is so goofy it's sort of entertaining in and of itself. |

Tycho in the second to last panel (the front view) is giving me a Switched at Birth vibe, but I can't place it.

As is, every time it has something to do with games (which is like 80% of the comics), eyugghh, it just gives me the heebie jeebies. On the plus side, since the subject of facial expressions has come up here before, this is a more complex (in terms of conveying an emotion) expression than I've seen in *cough* some comics.

I've browsed a handful and I might continue. I liked this one.
I wanted to click on the "About" link for character bios and such but it seems to be nonfunctional.

I've heard people complain about xkcd fans, who are so smug and think that people that don't like xkcd just are too dumb to get it.
That does sounds annoying ... until I came in contact with people who hate xkcd, and through their complaints I get the idea that they are just too dumb to get it. The complaint seems to be that the whole joke is, "Look, a science concept!" That is NEVER the joke. Like for the cat proximity one. Is the joke, "Hey, look, a graph!" No, the joke is based on "it's funny because it's true." People do act that way around cats (and sometimes babies). The reason for the graph is that it helps communicate the joke (it is not the joke itself) in a brief, and thus witty, way. But you have to at least have the bare minimum intelligence that your brain doesn't freeze up when you see a graph to get that joke.
