Well, he looks like a Cyborg version of Belgar from Alundra 2, but for some reason it reminds me of this time I saw a picture of some guy from a band who said he was cosplaying as Mega Man, only he didn't look anything like Mega Man. He looked, well, like that.

I kind of hope this becomes a trend.

If they ever released a gritty, hyper violent Mario game that took itself completely seriously, it would be an embarassment, sure, but I would also have something to laugh about until the day I died.

Actually, OCRemix is designing a mod for Half-Life 2 that's supposed to be an adult version of Mario that's more... adult. I'll admit that it's an odd direction to take things, but Bowser and some of the bad guys look really good, and-

Wait, that's Bomberman?! The 64 already ruined him, so they're now going to mutilate the corpse? I forsee bad things for this game. (Point of Info: My screen name originated from Bomberman, so they're insulting a character I like.)

Um...this isn't really the first time he's been "mutilated". I think we've all posted those Turbo Grafx pictures enough times. And don't forget the way he looked on the original NES's Bomberman label art in the US version (which was reprised for the GBA version), either.

It's true that Bomberman has had some strange alternate designs before, but that was usually just a case of bad box art more than anything. I can't really think of any in game appearances where he wasn't his cutesy, watermelon headed self until now (Although I believe there is a PSP version with some weird, muscular art design, but that seems to be for humor more than anything).

That said I wouldn't really be interested in a new Bomberman game one way or the other (Well, maybe if they put out a good online version on the DS, but I haven't heard of [or experienced, for that matter] a good version of Bomberman for a long, long time).

I think the mushroom forest level in Super Bomberman 2 is the best multiplayer level ever made. If an online DS version of Bomberman including that level was made I would buy it without hesitation.

I kind of agree that "Xtreme" character designs should become a trend. Oldschool game aesthetics have largely been abandoned so they might as well take it to the hilt and provide some good laughs in the process.

That's what I was thinking. Ever since Resident Evil, I've been seeing more and more game characters that have the one really large hand and some kind of thing attached to/or sticking out of their chest. It's almost as bad as how for the longest time, everything was based on the Alien.
