So, FO and I just saw this today.
Somehow, most of my thoughts on it are sort of trivial. So, some random observations:
1) Bullseye hits the bullseye of a dart board about 6 or 7 times in a row, while drinking a beer, and not even looking at the board. This wins him a bet from some middle aged WASP type. The middle aged guy grudgingly pays up, but when Bullseye turns to walk off, he mumbles, "Irish trash..." Then Bullseye tosses some sort of needle thing into the guys chin, killing him
-a) If this was remotely believable, Bullseye wouldn't need to make money by betting. Even if you lost a bet, that performance would have been worthwhile as an exhibition.
-b) I don't think getting hit in the throat (that is, in the windpipe) would be fatal. It'd be as unpleasant as hell, but the throat is not a vital organ. You could still get air into your lungs.
2) This movie is like a demonstration of why vigilante justice doesn't work. The "justice" is arbitrary.
You might guess that as the movie goes on, the criminals (who are worse and worse) would get worse and worse judgments. (This is indeed what happens in some superhero movies; example, the Burton Batman, where the first bad guys are just hung up to be arrested later, but the Joker falls off a building)
Instead, the first guy, at the beginning of the movie, gets by far the most gruesome fate, being cut in half by a subway train.
The second main bad guy gets shot through the hands, then tossed out a window (presumably to his death, except that an epilogue shows that he survived).
The real main bad guy, who has been responsible for 20 years of murders, and who even helped out those two previous bad guys, is left to be arrested and dealt with by the criminal justice system (his knees may have also been broken).
3) Daredevil says that the Kingpin killed the only two people that he loved. Sheesh. He knows that girl for a week, and already cares about her more than his partner who he's worked with for goodness knows how long?
4) Speaking of which, Electra was within her rights when she walked away from Daredevil earlier. I thought his behaviour there was kind of creepy. It's not supposed to be, because somehow he knows she really likes him, and somehow he knows that she would appreciate brawling with a total stranger.
5) Superhero movies have been trying to be more serious lately, but it just leads to me nitpicking more. Example: Electra is shown in a training sequence, and sand bags fall from the ceiling. She slashes them with her sais, and sand falls out. I'm thinking, with the time it would take to fill up those sand bags, rig them to fall, and then clean up the sand afterwards, how much time for training could she have left?
6) I didn't like the bland, seemingly no-name "rock" soundtrack.
