I'm not sure what my final thoughts are right now. The game had a sad ending. Actually, believe it or not, I feel a little sad about it, too. I wondered if there was a way to achieve a happier ending, but I entered a debug code that lets you view all the FMV sequences, and there wasn't one in there. The ending changes slightly depending on whether you chose to play as the man or the woman, but the outcome is essentially the same.
There were some good puzzles in the final sequences. There are some "battles" that take place and run automatically. Whether or not you win depends on if you took some kind of action before the battle starts. Some of those made me feel really nervous, because I wasn't sure if I'd win or not.
One thing I didn't realize until I watched all the cinematics is that this game has some really gruesome "game over" cutscenes! It's like this game was trying to put Mortal Kombat to shame. I got a lot of Game Overs, but I somehow managed to miss all the really gory ones.
I also liked the game's final puzzle. You're alone in a room full of candles that have to be lit in a certain order. You can no longer access other areas of the map for clues, and there's no one around to help you. The answer lied within an item I had been carrying since fairly early in the game. It had one use earlier, but I wondered if it had another, but I had forgotten about it until that point of the game.I
