Lets make a little debate to find out. Here is my evidence.
-There is a large "group" of people who are taking the energy from a natural source. Whether it's an empire taking energy from genjuu or a corporation taking energy from the planet, it's still there.
-The "groups" are using this energy to create an army of super-soldiers.
-There is a small resistance against this evil energy-stealing "group"
-The main hero of the game not only has little to no real memory of their past, but also originally worked for the evil "group" only to defect and join the side of the resistance.
-Another member of the "bad guys", who happened to be the first "super soldier" they "created" with the energy they've been stealing ends up killing the leader of said "bad guys" and becomes the last boss.
-(This one's kinda vague, I know) A person of some importance sacrifices themselves in an attempt to stop the new evil bad guy, but fails.
-The main character, after being taken off the party for a period of time, find out what their real past is, and come out even more determined to stop the evil bad guy.
-One of the people who join your party is a mysterious man with a shady past (and both could possibly be considered secret characters, as you can have Shadow NOT join you at all.)
-Ultima Weapon was in both games, having never been a monster before FF6. Not even sure if it was a weapon before FF6. (Although, it eventually became a staple, it was due to FF7's taking it from FF6 that it did so.) Although, it was translated badly in FF6 to "Atma Weapon" (stupid Woolsey.)
-Someone other than the hero defects from the "bad guys" to join your party.
-The evil villain attempts to cause a catastrophic, world-changing event. (although, Kefka succeeded whereas Sephy didn't)
What do you think?
