Nucleo and Cory have strong family resemblance, especially since Nucleo is a few years younger than her current present-day age there.

When young Nucleo would get scared or anxious, he'd wrap his wings around himself like that (Jack Sheen does the same thing). It took awhile for him to trust Aurora and Preston because he'd never seen anything that looked like them before and since he'd been around only other mountaindevils all his life, they were like giants to him. He had a lot of other fears and worries related to his original home life, too. He eventually grew out of them.

I haven't posted too many of them, but there was a period in the mid-to-late 80's when pretty much all my characters' facial expressions looked like Nucleo's in that picture. Literally, panels and panels of them. That one, I don't mind, because there's a reason for it and I need that picture for something, but the others appeared to be a result of my own teenage angst and they were just all moody and depressed all the time because I was at the time. It's kind of funny looking at it now, but I still wouldn't want to post all of them.

Well, what do you think that book Preston is holding is for? Sure, it looks like it could be his psychiatric recordbook, but it's actually a mountaindevil home recipe cookbook.

Seriously, it's kind of funny how much I've refined the character designs since that drawing, which wasn't even done all that long ago. That was supposed to be the young 8-year-old Nucleo, but he actually looks several years older than that. I'd guess between 13 and 15 (and by then, he should not still be apprehensive about them). Preston looks a few years older, too. Aurora's costume is missing the cape. And I've made Preston's ears more horizontal, mostly to further distinguish him from Christopher, but also from other desert-elves in general.
