Lately, I haven't been focusing too much on any one game, with the exception of Life Force, which I played nearly every day for a week before I reviewed it. Along with that, I've been playing some other NES games, mostly all ones I've completed and mastered in the past. Among them:
Gun.Smoke - I beat this game years ago, but never truly "mastered" it...in other words, never got to the point where I could beat it every time I played it. I think I've just about succeeded in mastering it, now. I think the final boss is pretty tough, though.
Legendary Wings - This game I have NOT beaten, yet...Um...it doesn't have any continues. What the heck?? But it seems like it could be a good shooter...Like Life Force, it has both horizontal and vertical stages. I like how you can run along the floor in the horizontal stages, a la, Section-Z. But I have not yet gotten past stage 2.
Power Blade - I just beat this on normal tonight...It's been years since I've played this game, and I beat it with very little effort in about 20 minutes. Obviously, this game is a bit too easy on normal. It's harder on the hard difficulty, though, but I'll try that later.
Contra/Super C - As Crawl mentioned in another topic, we beat these games together. I also beat both of them alone without continuing and without using the extra life codes.
Dragon Spirit (NES) - I still like this game a lot, despite not being anywhere near as hard as the arcade version.
Heavy Barrel - I think I may have gotten to the end boss once, but I didn't beat it. This game really is fun! It's like what Ikari Warriors would be like if Ikari Warriors didn't suck.
E.V.O. Search for Eden - This is the game I'm mainly focusing on right now, and might be the subject of my next review. I really do like this game. It really gives me a sense of wonder about being on the earth before there was man or civilization. I've reached the boss of chapter 2, the Queen Bee...When I first got this game, I couldn't beat that boss, and I finally gave up and put the game aside. But then I went back to it later, started over from the beginning, and then played it through to the end. I've been through it about 3 or 4 times now.
