And the top 3 games I played in 2007. Whatever I might have said about each game as I played it, this is based on looking at this list today and deciding which ones really had the most impact on me.

1. Okami- By no means perfect, this game still made a really strong impression on me. The visual style really worked for me and the game surpasses every Zelda (the closest comparison to make) since OoT. If it has any new content when they release it on Wii, I might just do it all over again.

2. Portal- Doesn't get the top spot as it doesn't feel like a full game yet. But it was a great start and a great variation from the norm. The humor was top notch and the portal system made for some absolutely fascinating puzzles. There's a ton of potential for a sequel and/or fan-made additions.

3. Elite Beat Agents- What a surprise this was. I've played several rhythm games now but this is the only one that's hooked me. The difficulty quickly shoots from relaxing to completely insane but that didn't stop me from playing each song dozens of times to get them right. The screen tapping system also works much better for me than traditional input.

Runners up: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Super Paper Mario, and Super Metroid.

It may be surprising that I've left Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night off the main list, but while they were enjoyable when I was playing them, I don't feel that there was any lasting impact. I doubt I'll ever get around to playing either of them again.
