Another week with no game. When Nintendo was e-mailed, this was supposedly part of the response:

I was about to say that I hadn't heard much excitement for WiiWare ... but that is actually totally wrong, because I forgot that Mega Man 9 was a WiiWare
game. And that generated a lot of excitement. And at least I've heard of the Final Fantasy IV sequel.
I hadn't heard of the Contra sequel until I checked out Wikipedia's list of WiiWare games, though. Lostwinds and World of Goo also got a lot of attention, which is really impressive because they didn't have any coattails to ride. Last Christmas, those
two and deBlob were considered the only games worth buying for Wii thanks to Nintendo's stellar idea to use Animal Crossing as their flagship holiday
release.
I checked the WiiWare list again. There's a Harvest Moon on there, as well as a few more Monkey Island entries. This might turn out to not suck as bad as I initially thought. Still want them to keep VC alive, though. Even though my SNES/N64 copies of games are all intact still, I want them to be available through this in case something bad happened. |

Tales of Monkey Island is also available for PC anyway.
World of Goo is available for PC, 360 Live, and probably PSN. |

Well, I knew Monkey Island was PC. Didn't know about World of Goo. Nintendo's been going a little crazy with the cross-platform games by dipping into
the casual market so heavily, so of course they'll pick up a few "real" games in doing so. I won't write off WiiWare if they're releasing
good games that can be retrieved for other systems, mainly because I'm exclusively Wii at the moment (and likely will be for a while). Just like with the
VC, it's nice to have a library of good games regardless of the circumstances.
I mean, if FFVII were to be released for VC as well as the PSN, it'd still be a huge deal. |

Super Star Wars (SNES)
Never played much of the SNES Star Wars games, but considering how things have been on the VC lately, this probably qualifies as a great week.

I think that, as with most C64 games, we probably haven't heard of them for a reason.

While I don't understand how Shadow of the Beast got 10 ports (and it was also supposed to be released for the SNES, but that fell through), that's
pretty understandable compared to the 15 or so different versions of Altered Beast.
