Why just the Genesis version?

Because the Virtual Console lineup is decided by a bunch of brain damaged monkeys that pull the names out of hats.

I'm sure they could have released more games, but then we might miss out on such Wii Ware hits as Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam. |

That would probably be more thrilling if they didn't already have sets of Metal Slug 1-6 out.

I thought they would have a much better selection, but seeing this thread makes me think otherwise. There are so many great Nes,Snes and Genesis games begging
to be put on there. Even ones that many people don't know about but are great games anyway. I also thought they might put up Gameboy Advance games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.... for the Master System.
I would say it was another disappointment, but they're becoming hilariously predictable, and I no longer use the Virtual Console. |

Rest in peace, virtual console? |

Honestly, I wonder if Nintendo isn't sabotaging it on purpose with bad games so that they can use the resulting poor sales as an excuse to get rid of the
VC for good.

Phantasy Star IV (Genesis)
Now that's fine, but it's only one game, and it's already available on existing AND upcoming compilations. |

I haven't been very impressed with the Phantasy Star series. IV came out in '95, the same year as Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, and
battle-system-wise, it's closer in level to Dragon Warrior 2 (though PS4 has more [reserve] party members ... and probably less challenge) (Actually, DW2
at least lets you fight up to three enemy species at a time. I dont' think PS4 ever had more than 2)
It's like they had no ideas to contribute. Complete mediocrity. |

Yeah, I always got bored with IV before getting very far. I liked the way they did the story scenes, and they seemed to come pretty far visually from PSII.
Today's update is Zoda's Revenge: Star Tropics II (NES). |

Flying Omelette |

|
No wonder I got so many hits off people searching that game yesterday. It was the top search string and very rarely does anything top either "flying
omelette", or something to do with "kid icarus" or "video game music downloads".
At least I have one of the best reviews for it in existence. I hate to be such an egotist, but pretty much every other review I ever read before I wrote mine just complained about the story without talking about the gameplay much at all. |

Crawl and 1OOO |

And I'm sorry to say that I think the complaints about its story are stupid, too. "Mike explored eight stages of islands last time, why can't he
just keep exploring islands again?!"
