At the risk of inciting a flame war, Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. Really, it's a great RPG.
Kid Icarus: Myths and Monsters is pretty good. Kirby's Dream Land 1 and 2 are cetainly worth trying. Zelda Link's Awakening is another. I would list more, but I haven't really played that many regular GB games.

I won't repost any already mentioned, but some others I like are Metroid 2, Mega Man in Dr. Wily's Revenge, Kirby's Pinball Land, Wario Land, and Final Fantasy Adventure.
Azure Dreams and Blaster Master Enemy Below are GBC-enhanced, but playable on B&W Game Boys as well. Crawl and 1000 ![]()

I'd have to recommend Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, Nemesis, Gradius: The Insterstellar Assault, Operation C and Gargoyle's Quest. I hear Ninja Gaiden Shadow is good too.

Quote: I don't know about this game, but Castlevania Adventure flat out sucks. The guy in it(Simon?) moves at a snails pace, making it a pain to dodge stuff and jump over pitfalls.

Very true. Castlevania The Adventure is THE WORST Castlevania ever made. Luckily Belmont's Revenge was put together a lot better. It's much more playable than the first game.
Oh yeah, and it was Christopher Belmont in both the first and second GB games. You're very perceptive, for a dead man.

Dragon Warrior Monsters and Dragon Warrior 1 & 2, and Dragon Warrior 3 are all good, too, although some of these may be GBC/GBA-only. Super Mario Land 2 is good, but stay away from Super Mario Land 1. The other Wario Land games are fun, too.

Both Zelda Oracle games are really good, too. Solar Striker is a fun Zanac-style shooter game, but it's difficult. I've yet to get past level 3.

I have to add Kid Dracula to my list. It's a little short, but it's fun and challenging as far as Game Boy games go.

Bionic Commando (I'm not talking about Elite Forces. There is a GB Classic game.), Dragon Warrior Monsters, Mega Man V, Wario Blast, and Enemy Below are all good and work on the Classic GB.
Some other decent ones are Belmont's Revenge, Wario Land 2, and the Pokemon games. Blaster Master Boy is a Bomberman port, and it's rather easy. The only reason it took me two tries to beat was because I ran out of lights. It's not bad, though. If you can fetch it for $5 like I did, go for it. Wario Land 3, Elite Forces, and Duke Nukem are all good, but they don't work on the old GB. Don't touch the GBC Lemmings. Belmont's Revenge is much better than Castlevania Adventure. And it's not Simon, but Christopher Belmont. ![]() Fun Cat Fact of the Moment: An old Italian supersition says that it is good luck to hear a cat sneeze. |

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the most legendary and addictive GB game ever (and for that matter, one of the greatest games ever, period), Tetris. There are also several variations of it of varying quality on GB, but the original is definitely a GB classic.

Tetris is great, but the Nintendo versions weren't as good as most of the others. Tengen Tetris >>>>>> Nintendo Tetris.

Most everything that I was going to recommend has already been mentioned.
If action games are to your liking, give Heiankyo Alien a try. (If you can even find a copy.) It's a little short, but should be very low priced. Being a long term fan of the card game Uno, I've found the GBC (though, GB classic is compatable. Just some features aren't available.) version to be a pleasent game to keep coming back to. It offers lots of options and variations. (Just turn off the animations. They repeat all the time, waste time, really slow down the pace, can't be bypassed in mid-play and offer nothing to the game.) |

A little surprised no one mentioned Metroid II: the Return of Samus. Milon's Secret Castle had a password function on GB, and ended up being almost a dead
ringer for the NES game.

I don't think I knew that Ninja Spirit was made for the Game Boy.
Having just finished Final Fantasy 3j, I see that Dark Lord is an M-Knight from that game! I missed that the first time I played FFA. I've been curious about Mercenary Force since I saw it in Nintendo Power. It has kind of a King's Knight vibe going on. It looks like FO doesn't have it, however. I think that Super Mario Land and R-Type II (the Game Boy version; the real version is a classic) are bad games, though. |

I think it's kind of a funny coincidence that there happens to be a Dark Lord moment in there even though this person probably has no idea about this
board's past Dark Lord obsession.
I've played astonishingly few classic GB games. Even the list of played GBC games was miniscule. I really didn't get into portable gaming in any sense until the 2nd edition of the GBA with backlighting. Kind of a shame that the DS doesn't offer a way to play anything before the GBA. |
