How to Survive - Nightmarish Trip - Beat One-Shot Escape mode on Kovac's Way difficulty.
The main reason I haven't been able to get this one is because I can make it to the third island and then get wiped out immediately when I come across a zombie bear. It seemed to me to be impossible without a second player to put extra firepower on the bears. But I don't have anyone to play the game with me.
I'm not sure, but some suggest using Nina because of her skill that keeps weapons from breaking (I've only tried this mode with Jack). One way in which I can imagine that might make things easier is if you can craft the boomerang. It's not worth crafting with Jack, Kenji, or Abby because it will only break after so many uses. I'm not real sure it would help with the bears, but maybe in an abstract way it could...
Gradius III - I'm still working on this game on RA, but the reason I stopped is because of my sticking controller. If the D-Pad sticks anytime while playing this game, it will almost guarantee an end to my run, and since the game is quite long, I don't want to risk it. I'm looking into other controller options, but I'm waiting for my Amazon points to propagate.
Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge - RA added new achievements to this game. I think I could get beating the game without using any special weapons (aside from Carry and Mirror Shield), and even beat Dr. Wily with a full health bar with enough practice, but the ones for beating the stages without taking a hit...
I lodged a complaint against these and maybe I wouldn't normally do that, but I saw other people complaining about them, too. I tried doing them today, thinking it might require practice, but probably weren't undoable. I beat Elec Man's stage to get his weapon and then took on Ice Man's stage. With some practice, I managed to get through Ice Man's stage without taking a hit, but the achievement didn't unlock. I assumed I lost my RA connection, so I restarted again, put in my password for just Elec Man beaten, and tried again. Still no achievement.
I went back to the site to report that the Ice Man achievement wasn't unlocking when I noticed someone complaining that you can't use sub-weapons to get these. Seriously, WTF?!? The achievement descriptions don't even mention that! Here's why this is nuts:
- Other Mega Man games have no-hit achievements, but they let you use sub-weapons.
- People who have gotten these achievements say they're possible, but rely on luck because of the random nature of certain enemies and bosses (particularly, the Big Eyes and Cut Man). Really? So I have to keep replaying these stages and hope I get lucky?
- Other Mega Man games that have no-hit achievements only require you to either complete the stage (up to the boss door) without getting hit or beat the boss without getting hit. This is the only game that requires both the stage and the boss, which seems a bit much.
