Is it you, the tinder that defeated the FIEND of the Earth, and disturbed my sleep? I, KARY will now show you the force of Fire, and you shall burn in its flames!!
disturbed my sleep? I, KARY will not give you the force of FIRE. I shall burn you up with my flames.

No Cure2?There are two Cure1 spells, one in the Level 1 magic, and one in the Level 2 magic set for Clerics, and a Cure3 spell in the Level 1 set, but no Cure2. One probably is Cure2, but I haven't experimented enough to figure out which.
Actually, there is one more weird thing below the Poltergeist enemy, but that really will have to wait for later...

The Japanese version of Might & Magic has graphics for an owl plaque in the Sorpigal Gallery. That definitely doesn't exist in the American version.
The Japanese version has quite a few differences in the Sorpigal Gallery, although I'll wait to play the ROM and get some actual screenshots instead of posting the tile viewer images.
Anyway, the Owl plaque I mentioned seems to have been replaced with the Corak plaque in the American version. The plaque that actually shows the robed figure of Corak is not in the Japanese version's graphics.
The plaque image for the "One by Land, One by Air, One by Sea, and One by Sand" does not exist in the Japanese version.
The plaque with the Dragon head on it does not exist in the Japanese version either.
The plaque with the Treasure Chest also does not exist in the Japanese version.
The Japanese version, however, has a plaque depicting a large hourglass that doesn't exist in the American version.
Plaques that are the SAME in both versions:
The Castle Doom plaque
The Chessboard plaque
The Wheel of Luck plaque
The Gala plaque (which looks strangely similar to the opening scene from A Link to the Past that shows the sages sealing the Golden Land.)
Again, I'll get images for comparison later, but I'd rather present actual screenshots for these.
Oh, one more utterly bizarre and inexplicable change - All the enemy designs in both versions are identical - sans two. The Snake/Slither Beast enemy and the Vampire Bat enemy in the Japanese version are both only represented by one creature. For some inscrutable reason, these enemies where changed in the American version so that they're represented in clusters of three (see this site again for reference). Since these are common Sorpigal enemies I'll try to screenshots of them soon rather than post the jumbled tile viewer images...

I Look Like an Egg
That enemy looks to me like something that would have been in the swamp areas.
There is no Werephase Mummy, per se, but Mummy is on the list twice. I don't remember this for a fact, but maybe there really are two different types? And the stronger ones are supposed to be the Werephase Mummy?
I don't remember any of these. They all appear to be tavern clues. It's possible they exist but you might need to keep talking to the people in the taverns and tipping the bartenders over and over again to get them to show up. It also seems like some are specific to certain towns.

While the game describes switches being on walls in quite a few spots, I'm pretty sure they
Nevermind. These aren't switches, they're either doorknobs or bolts. The doors in the towns have them, but I just never took notice of them before.
On Lord Kilburn... I always thought, from his picture, the reason he was in exile was because he was cursed and turned into a monster - kind of like Beauty and the Beast, and I figured since he had the Desert map, he was probably the original king of Castle Dragadune. But knowing what we do now about that unused boss fight, your theory makes sense, too.

Painted on these grounds is a black & white checkered motif covered with idols similar to the ones you carry. A large being approaches... Og speaks: "Queen to queens level 3." Which piece do you want to move?

Gnome/Sprite's palette is much different. Other enemies like the Kobolds and Assassins were the same, though.

I guess for the N-Barrier cave I could write down that I got the Bronze Key in here, but I wouldn't remember exactly what square the wizard shows up on to give it to you or where all the 13 enemy parties were located.
