I must've just missed you. I don't think I saw your post until I after I woke up (yes, 5AM is still bedtime).

It's really pretty cool to have this part of development frozen in time only partway through the transition from Doki Doki Panic to SMB. Did you see that part about how the debug life meter made it into the commercial? Neat.

I see this version has no run button. I've played the original version and that fact absolutely kills it. I wonder why they changed some things seemingly at random, like the vegetable. They can't have thought it looked too mean, could they? I wonder what the idea was in getting rid of the Thank You message at the end. What cold hearted bastard wouldn't want a nice thank you after weeks 45 minutes of effort? Interesting that they invented the prize money thing for this game, completely original to the US version, then got rid of it. Maybe Mario wouldn't accept money for his deeds, anyway? I'd like to try the crazy glitched levels. Wonder if the enemies disappearing (poor Tweeter!) was a new glitch they accidentally introduced or something that happened on Doki Doki Panic.

My favorite part is probably the way the game freaks out when you beat it as Toad.
