I know people who don't trust everything on snopes.com. However, I constantly see that site and its admin being quoted by respectable news sources, such as the Washington Post and Time Magazine. I don't have much of an opinion of snopes, myself, but I do know that I don't 100% believe the Atari 2600 E.T. landfill story, yet snopes says it's true (I've seen other sites claim that it's just an urban legend and no one has yet to really prove it.)

Personally, I think urbanlegends.about.com is a much better urban legends site, (even though they didn't post one that I sent them) but that's getting away from the point.

Also, I've ranted quite a bit over the past few months about how sick I was getting of stupidity on the internet, some I'm kind of worn out about that subject, now. Maybe you could find an old post, somewhere. Some sites and boards I used to love visiting seemed to go completely downhill. People who used to always keep their cool in any situation were suddenly getting pissed off over the dumbest things. People who once had infinite respectable opinions degraded into one-note bashers and fanboys. I don't know why people do things like that. They seem to think it makes everyone else angry and thus gets them attention. They seem to think that by putting on this false "attitude", it'll make them stand out. But in reality, it's sad to see people who were once so respectable and fun to be around now acting like idiots that no one can take seriously and, therefore, everyone else just ignores them. It's sort of like the Emperor in the "Emperor's New Clothes".

Too many video game message boards are not only full of people who don't have oldschool views, but are intolerant of them. And what's even worse is that they expect you to love all modern systems equally. X-E's forums are a good example of that. I love the site...but I won't go to the message board.

This extends beyond game boards, too. I found a rather decent Ghostbusters board that was fun to hang around, chat about Real Ghostbusters and joke about how much the Junior and Extreme Ghostbusters sucked. Now all of a sudden, there are people starting threads demanding everyone to stop making "hateful" posts about the Jr and Extreme GB's, and claiming that it's the fault of people who hate Extreme Ghostbusters that Sony Pictures didn't make a Ghostbusters 3 movie. Uh...yeah, right, sure.
