I'm probably done with Game-a-thon now so I'll muse about it for a bit.

I had a lot of fun. Before I started, I thought I'd try to play a diverse cross-section of games. Not necessarily diverse in genre, but diverse in regards to my experiences with them. Some were games I recently finished (before Game-a-Thon) (Contra: Hard Corps counts here), others were games I haven't played in years (like Metroid). Some games were rather short, played mainly to quickly add a game to my list (like Life Force). Others were long - obviously nothing as long as Xenogears, but for this case, something like DKC2 counts as long. Some were games I've reviewed, lots were games I haven't reviewed. Some were challenging, some were easy. Some games I loved, some I don't feel that level of affection towards ... but I don't think I played any games I actually dislike. I played some adventure games - and lots of platformers and shooters.

There were a lot of games I considered playing through but didn't have time for. Super Mario World was high on the remaining list, as I haven't played it in years and would like to know precisely what I think of it now. I also considered Zanac, Bayou Billy, Super Metroid, Zoda's Revenge ... and, well, there are lots of other choices.

I don't think I'd want to Game-a-thon too often, as games are usually at their best as distinct experiences.

I don't think replaying any of these games have changed my opinions on them - mostly, it just served to confirm them. It's been a while since I've played Punch-Out!!!, and Mr. Dream is still an amazing boss. Replaying that game was one of my best experiences with game-a-thon.

Lords of Thunder is shaping up to be my current favorite Duo shooter.

Gun*Nac made me ponder what intensity really means in a shooter. With ricochet of bullets, the screen can often be filled with projectiles, yet I don't find the game as exciting or intense as Zanac. It's worth considering why.
