Wow, it's been a long time since I've finished Metroid - maybe as long as a year or two. Of course, that's one reason I decided to replay it now =)

It's been so long, in fact, that I forgot a fair deal about the game - where everything was, for instance. This is probably a good thing, as exploring is what the game is all about. I did manage to find all the energy tanks (though I didn't bother actually touching the last two) and had a maximum of 185 missles at the game's end.

I think my opinion of the game is similar to what it was when I was younger. I like the game, but I wish that, after you spend so much time building up an arsenal, there could be some great fights to use that arsenal in.

When I fought Ridley, her shots were going over my head, so I had a safe spot to fire at her.

I don't believe there's any way to really use skill while fighting Kraid (in particular, I don't believe it's possible to beat him without taking a hit). It doesn't matter: Just get in close and wail on him with missles. I was surprised by how quickly Kraid went down; I remember the fight against him taking longer.

One of the coolest things about this game, though, is the spin attack.

I can't believe - well, considering it's Loogaroo, I guess I can - Loogaroo complained about the play control for this game. I think it's just about perfect (I noticed, I think for the first time tonight, that you can't change your shooting direction in the middle of a jump, but it's an insignificant quibble). And that makes jumping at enemies to kill them a lot of fun.

I still think I like Super Metroid a little more, on the whole.
I LOOOOOOVE Flying Omelette!!
