Yes they do. This is a very common misconception and seems to be especially prevalent amongst NES fans. You do not need to put a copyright notice on everything you post to the internet in order for it to be in effect. There is an internet copyright law that (I believe) Bill Clinton (possibly Al Gore) signed into effect (not enough time to find a link with more info now) that declares ANY original work you post to the internet to be automatically copyrighted to you.

That doesn't matter. This is another common misconception. Just because you're not using copied work to make a profit, that doesn't make copying it illegal. This is why people who used Napster and other file-sharing services have been successfully sued by the RIAA.
