I think the fact that I was completely able to control my dreams at one time pretty much disproves most (if not all) of the "expert" theories I've heard about dreams and what symbolism in them means. Things like "if you see a snake in your dream, that means good fortune", or "if you dream about a person, that means you're really in love with him/her" is a bunch of hippie-dippy-gypsy BS.

But I've lost my ability to control my dreams, because I didn't dream for the longest time after I moved to Ohio. But now that I've begun dreaming again, I'm going to have to try training myself to control them because I almost always have nightmares and they leave me feeling unrested. But it's not easy to do.
