I played some SMB2j today. I used Mario instead of Luigi, for a change from what I usually do. As interesting as the level design is, sometimes it gets bizarre beyond explanation. There are normal dry land levels with those squid creatures floating around normally, for example. I think there's even one with fish swimming like they're underwater, but I'm not positive with that one. It's like they had all these crazy ideas they wanted to try, but didn't have a chance to implement them in the first game.

And I'm pretty sure that aside from stage 8-4 of the first game, there were no normal enemies inside the castle levels. But they show up here very frequently from what I recall.
