I beat Perfect Dark.

Whew. I liked the final stage. It made me feel anxious and got some adrenaline going. I've made some complaints about the game in the previous posts in this thread, but I am looking forward to trying the higher difficulties now.

That the enemies in Goldeneye were humans added to the game (such as the satisfaction of taking enemies out with a single head shot), but I imagine the makers of Perfect Dark found that limiting. It seems the alien enemies in PD can't be taken out by a single shot, no matter how well aimed. They're tough enough that they can be a danger even when unarmed. In the final stage, your ammo is pretty limited, so there's a lot of tension in running backwards down corridors away from charging enemies, hoping either the enemy'll die before you need to reload, or at least that you'll be able to conserve enough ammo for the final boss.

The final stage of Goldeneye was interesting in that it didn't really have a final boss... but it sort of did. PD's final stage is more traditional. Also, while Goldeneye technically had two objectives for the final level, one was just on the way to the other. PD's final stage seems more multipart (and long - when I did beat the stage, my time was just shy of 18 minutes). The first part is mazelike (much like most of the game), and it took me some exploration to get used to it and now where I had to go. All together, it took me a good number of attempts to get through this stage.

I have to confess, before I really beat the game, I tried the final stage with the slo-mo cheat to try to figure out how to damage the final boss -- an attempt which was successful. While that can't count as beating the game, it did show me the final cinema scene (in slow motion!) as well as the credit roll. Even after I discovered how to damage the final boss, it took some attempts playing normally to execute it.

When you really beat the game, you earn a new cheat; you can now play any stage on Special Agent difficulty, meaning you can play them out of order (the same as with Goldeneye); and so far, one extra mission was unlocked (apparently, you play as one of the aliens!), though I haven't tried it yet.
