Have a specific example in mind? Since you post followed FO's DoDonPachi post, I wonder if you're refering to shooter communities where you HAVE to one-credit games in order to be considered having beaten it?

Or are you looking from a game company's standpoint of what used to be secondary considerations like "telling a good story".

Speaking of one crediting, I lost my last life on the final boss of R-Type Delta tonight. I was using the R-13. It's been awhile since I've died on that boss. I even had the top bit. I choked, plain and simple. My force wasn't even 30% full. Either way, my new high score is 871,222. Probably would have gotten about 890,000 points had I survived. Oh well.
