If the battery in your Saturn's internal memory is dead, it will only save your information until you turn it off. You can safely reset, so what you'll have to do is this:

Save your game to the internal memory. When you're done playing, reset the system. Copy your file from the internal memory to your memory card.

Then next time you play, after turning the game on, copy the file from your card into the system memory. I don't think games can read directly from the card (at least none that I've played can.)

In other news, I might be giving up DoDonPachi to move onto something else. As well-made as the game is, something about it is just not giving me a feeling of satisfaction. This is certainly a game you only play for score because you can beat it by credit-feeding, but unless there's some kind of motivation to keep getting higher scores, I don't really like doing that anymore, because I don't know when I've gotten a score that I won't be able to beat. At what point have I mastered it? And I'm getting bored with playing the same levels over and over again. I'm not saying DDP is bad, but it's left me wondering if Manic Shmups just aren't my cup of tea. (Crawl makes Mars Matrix sound better, though.)
